Something different for Squad Operations in May
« on: April 20, 2003, 10:34:05 PM »
Dux mentioned something on the CM BB that I also had been giving some thought to.

Instead of the usual 3 frames for the Squad Operations, how about for the next Friday Squad Operations we try 4 frames, but each squad fly’s American iron for two frames and Japanese Iron for two frames?

Anyone against trying this?

Sounds like a nice way to mix up the forces and get everyone to at least try something they may not be used to doing. One question though: Would the last two frames be a repeat of the first two? To me that would be the best way to see what the outcome would be like. Also I would not want all my Squadron Ops scenarios to run that way. Maybe every other one or even every third SqOps to run on the suggested setup.

I don't think you'll; find any objections from MAG-33.  Sounds like an interesting idea.

I love this idea. I hope that all squads give it  a fair shake, and don't selectively participate only in frames which they fly the aircraft they most wanted.

Actually that's the way several of the AW HS were run.  I remember Pearl & Ploesti were side switch scenarios.

Yeah, Dugger..... and there are quite a few of us former AWrs now in the CM Team.... (not that this in any way affected the decision - just meant we could add our comments based on former AW experiences..... )  ;)

I am personally opposed to this idea, however let me ask the squad and my CO for an opinion.

In any case, thx for the free thinking and trying to make the SO's better.

Thanks for the comments folks.

Ammo how come? Any pit falls you see that I don’t?

As I have been reading over the sides request just about everyone wants American iron for this Squad Operations. Which would be quite a few disappointed squads, so it seemed no better time to try this out. :)

Hi Dad-

Yea, my reasons are selfish:D  I would hate to have to switch sides when we were flying a jug.  We do squad ops to fly together and when the planeset allows, in the P-47.

I have not analyzed it any further than that.  As when anything that is tried, the bugs will get worked out in practice.
