Your right Wlfgng, I know nothing about you. Just as you nothing about me. Almost every male member and a few of the women of my family, on both sides, were in the military for a time in some capacity or another. My Father was a Medic during the Korean War and I lost two Uncles to land mines in Vietnam. I was one of the few that didn't join the Military, due to bad eyesight, not for lack of wanting too. Instead I became a Firefighter and EMT to help serve my Country a little.
In my off time you will also find me working with the American Legion, on my own time and nickle even though I am not a member, to see that Veterans in my area are taken care with medical checks & taking them to the VA or the doctor as well as seeing that all the cemetary markers & plots for any veterans are well taken care of and properly honored, year round, not just on the holidays.

I think mainly we had a misunderstanding. If you will track back up this post to the beggining you will see that this post was NEVER "political" and was always about support of the troops. You will even see me agreeing with you on the VA. Coming from a military family I was taught you had a certain respect for those that served in the military and I am kinda "protective" by nature of those that put their life on the line for my freedoms.

If you were wounded in combat or got your disability due to your service time then you have my deepest respects. Also I wish your Son that is overseas now a speedy and safe return to his loved ones.
!
You also have my appologies - I should never have allowed myself to be "trolled" into giving the response I did. I intend to remove my post as soon as I am finshed here.

As for my living in Arkansas, don't be sorry, I'm thankful every day I get up and watch the news from the East & West Coast.   ;)

my appologies as well.. I tend to get heated too quickly on this issue
After reading some of your other posts, and following this thread I agree with you and respect you for your opinions, even if they don't always agree with mine

misunderstandings happen and I'm sure I'm as guilty as the next guy .. ok.. I  know I am.

Excuse me, Rude, but I keep forgetting that Bill Clinton was the only President who was to be endlessly bashed, whether there were troops on foreign soil or not. The Bush pep-squad (complete with talking head cheerleaders) needs to wake up to reality. I'm no Slick Willie apologist, but I suspect he will go down in history as a pimple on the bellybutton of the presidency, whereas Dubya will be remembered as a war mongering, puss oozing boil.

What's this have to do with Clinton?

Oh I get it....you're still pissed about the election.

Pissed? Naw. Dubya and his sibling stole it fair and square. Why mention Clinton? Because the "party pure" who were talking of what a disgrace Clinton was in the Whitehouse are lined up kissing Dubya's war mongering arse.

What constitutes war mongering? As near as I can tell, the way it's being thrown around by those who disagree with the action in Iraq, it holds no substance what-so-ever and is in fact simply the newest catch phrase since the "No war for oil" slandering campaign has been ground to a halt.

Ground to a halt? Not according to what I see on the news. Hmm. Remember "walk softly and carry a big stick"? Well, war mongering is stomping around in jack boots smacking the hell out of friend and foe. Get it? If not, just wait until the next chapter of Georgies follies. Got us tied up in Afghanistan and Iraq, reckon he'll smack some small country now. Anyway, what the hey! It keeps the talking head/cheerleaders from focusing on the way he's bankrupting the country.

You mean there are still retards running around with those signs? They became extinct around these parts about a month ago.

Walk softly and carrying a big stick worked about as good as putting Saddam in "time out". We didn't smack the hell outta our friends, they stuck with us. We did squeak slap our fair weathered friends, although I never much liked fair weather friends anyway. I got it, although I find the term "war mongering" more in line with constantly waging wars to topple empires and take their resources/land than your definition.

So there was no point to going into Afghanistan and taking out the terrorist training camps? Just wait till they all kill themselves on our soil or our friend's soil taking a couple hundred, thousand, maybe even million with 'em? With regards to Iraq, guess we coulda sat around for another 12 years waiting for Saddam to pull his tricks outta his hand basket... see what nice surprises he has in store for us and his neighbors. I reckon it's best not to presume things till they happen, else you'll quickly prove you're no Miss Cleo.

The country has been bankrupt for a long while now... we've actually been in quite a debt.

Guess it remains to be seen if and when Dubya decides to topple another empire.

Of course we had to do the terrorist training camps and their Taliban buddies. Too bad Georgie Boy couldn't stop there.
