could we have a small update?

but what would we use jeeps for unless you want us to drive them from the tower to the hanger taxi to the end of the runway THEN take off...

though changing it so you could have a huge number of gunners in your bomber form would be really cool...

To run supplies or mebbe mount a couple .50 cals in the back for fast defense, or even to scale those unscalable VH spawns in Trinity :p

Apparently they are currently working on the GFX engine coding, I can understand one would not want to show that kind of "work in progress", I know I wouldn't untill it's in it's final stages.

A little text update would be a nice and welcome bone to throw at us though :)

OTOH, what are those two lazy gits (supafly& nategod) up to? :D

I not a programmer but I'm curious?  Do you go out and buy a GFX engine or something?  How much would somthing like that cost for an application like AH?  I guess people like SuperFly do the Art, Hitech takes a GFX engine-adds code and SuperFly's Art  and Bam-you got somthing like AH?  Is that about right??

You can build your own I guess (tedious) most games buy the engine (quake, unreal, etc...). There are also a few engines out that are not initially used for games per se. Am not talking for HT though, I haven't got a clue :)

Warbirds II used an engine by Trey Smith of Graphic Simulations Corporation (they did an F18 sim I think) Don't know if HT did the engine for AH or bought it.

I hope the new GFX engine uses OpenGL instead if directX, so it can be ported to Linux ;)

AFAIK AH uses its own engine, by HiTech.

I'd rather it didn't. iEN seems to struggle to support two formats and HTC's team is just as small. By sticking with Windows and DirectX we've benefited over the likes of Warbirds and WW2OL with faster development and the neat bells and whistles like the built in comms that is part of DirectX as well as the updated graphics effects. Would HTC benefit from a Linux version? I have my doubts. Out of the smaller number of Linux users, how many are gamers and how many of those are not running Linux on a partition alongside Windows anyway?

What I don't like about Warbirds is the Cartoon textures that we see in the Terrain, and FlightModels.  Everything is just so damn bright and unrealistic....a bit like IL2 really but WB's is much worse.  Is that the Engines fault?  If so the best Engine I've seen is StrikeFighters!  The Textures are just so life-like.  With all its faults I admire the visuals in that game.  Better than FB's and as good as I've seen in LockOn.  The sim itself is just a skeleton-you get the engine, some fm's, crappy terrain and campaign-a Moders wet dream really.
