The "Bob Knight" Syndrome
« on: September 14, 2000, 10:25:00 AM »
I applaud IU for finally yanking the plug on that cretin.

Seems that some flying AH take the Bob Knight attitude while online, which is: "I'm good, so that justifies any type of behavior from me. If you don't like it, you can kiss my ass."

In my opinion, there's no excuse for acting like a degenerate schmuck toward your fellow players of AH.

Maybe it's time that HTC yanks the plug on the Bob Knight's of AH?

 Here, here!!!  I second this.

Although I STILL think that some day, some how the free "two week tial" folks should have their own mini arena so they can fly and spout off to each other.  Just not in the pay to play arena.
It seems to have been too much to ask the MA folks to ignore those types so....

Need squelch file, so you can perma-squelch people.  That would end a lot of feuds.

Is that the syndrome where the ugliest harriest guys on the face of the earth get to party with thousands of silicon beauties?

I'll pass on that one.

Bob Knight was the Indiana University head basketball coach.  You may have seen him on the news at some time yelling, kicking, throwing chairs, berating players, berating refs, berating coaches and basically making an bellybutton of himself.  The media loved him.

Recently he grabbed a student at IU by the arm when the student said "Hey Knight" in passing.  Bobby grabbed him by the arm and demanded that in the future the student refer to him as either "Mr. Knight" or "Coach Knight".  This combined with an alleged outburst towards a female lawyer in his office was, in the college's opinion, a violation of the "zero tollerance" probation that Mr. Knight was on due to previous fines/outbursts/etc.  He was fired a short time later.

The media frenzy is still ongoing.

On a sidenote... a local TV sports ancor described Bobby Knight as "an amazinhunk" on the nightly news.  I don't think the channel got a single complaint about it.

Not to defend BK but he acts no different than most coaches, the only difference is the media focused on him.

He did some bad things in the past and probable should have been fired then but because he was wining games the pencil necks kept him around. Now that he hasn't won any banners for them they now have the balls to come out from under their rocks and say "gosh he's bad we don't want him around".

I live just south of Bloomington so I here whats really going on not what the media wants you to see and I can tell you that BK is getting screwed on this deal..He knows it the dickheads in charge know it and the kids know it.

I'm not a big IU fan by the way..don't watch basketball at all.

SOB,

He was the University of Indiana's head men's basketball coach for over 20 years. He had an excellent win record(even a few NCAA championships) and a high graduation rate.

Unfortunately, his "coaching style" included belittling his players, physical abuse, on court antics like throwing chairs, choking his own players, etc.

Ah, cc...the 'Indiana Coach Guy'!

Which channel was that DJ?  May start watching as long as it ain't Fox.  Cram Johnson & Eric toejam have got to be the worst pair of anchors that I've ever had the displeasure of watching...not that I don't like hearing their opinions of EVERY story they report

Does this mean that most of the "caustic element" of this game fly Knights?
