bldstain isn't just whining about an everyday incident, I know, because I was there at V75.
I know how much the GV model was toughened up against A2G attacks, and how tough it is to kill a Tiger. A lot of the 'I hit the Tiger but it didn't die!' whines are exaggerated and biased and etc etc.. most of the times they aren't a bit close to bringing it down because their bombs just missed, plain and simple.
But this Knit Tiger, at V75 a few days ago, just simply refused to die. About four~five people in multiple attack sorties, combined total payload equivalent of about 30 jabo plane ordnance, plus two B-17 formations determined to knock that single Tiger out(of which one I was personally leading).. and numerous attempts to capture it by land.
My B-17 formation alone sprayed about 10 of 18 1000lbs all around the Tiger, and at least two~three explosions which I observed via bombsight which I have seen directly land on top of that Tiger. That's about 2k ordnance which failed to knock it out. What's more, as I hang around in the buff and observe other people lob bombs, I have seen at least three, four good hits. Still, it refuses to go down.
...
It wasn't until people got determined to kill it, and prepared a Tiger which I followed in a M3 with GV supps, that finally finished it off 'up close and personal' way.
I'm not sure if I can say it is wrong. As frustrating it was to see a single Tiger foiling a capture for the time length which the VH upped four times, and we had to knock it out again and again and again(plus, kill the Osties that spawn with it)... since I use Tigers often too, it really is a mixed-up feeling.
