I live about 2 mins from the old Handley Page factory in frogmore.  Used to go over there when i was younger.  I think they moved from there when they were making the Victor V-Bomber because the runway wasn't long enough.

They made the James Bond Goldeneye film there.  We knew all the back exits into the base, and we used to go and sit in the scud missile launcher and other vehicles that were there.  great fun!  :D

The local airfield here was home to a French Halifax squadron in WW2. The Halibag would be a nice addition. Don't forget that the Stirling also fulfilled troop and transport duties too, as was very manoeuverable. With the Ju290 the Stirling suffered from abysmal ceiling, though.

Albermarle was good troop transport/glider tug/bomber, and was armed too.  Quite a fast plane aswell.

yeah, i posted that somewhere else on this forum about the albemarle.  Saw a lot of action as a troop transporter/paratroop a/c.  Looks similar to a blenheim with a glazed tail.

Kg200 used the Ju290 for cladistine drops.
14Tg4 used the Ardop 232 for the same purpose.

Only kinds of drops the Germans were doing post 1943 but the planes were used for both.
The Ju290 would be an increadble perk transport.
with anti ship missle capability and lots of 20mm
Dont try to land it beside a town though.
Althought the troops could drop from 500 I think.
