If I remember right FiAF Brewster (with DC-3 engine) performance was between F4F-4 and FM2.

FM2 is about 20mph faster and could carry more laod than light and more agile FiAF Brewster.

FM2 IS super Brewster but is it Uber vs La5, P40E or Yak9U/T?
Check out NetAces Plane Performance pages and make your mind.

BTW I would take anytime FiAF Brewster with 3 x .50 cal + 1 x .30 cal guns instead of FM2 in FinRus setup.

Just to give people perspective on set up rotation, here's the history of the CT set ups for this year:

Jan 03 - Jan 09 > Mr Fork > Kuriels: Russian vs Japan
Jan 10 - Jan 16 > Brady > Perdonia: German vs American
Jan 17 - Jan 23 > Sabre > BoB Map: British vs German
Jan 24 - Jan 30 > Jarbo > PTO: Allied vs Japanese
Jan 31 - Feb 06 > Mr Fork > Fin-Rus Map: Russian vs Fin/German
Feb 07 - Feb 13 > Brady > Hungary Map: Russian vs German
Feb 14 - Feb 20 > Jarbo > Burma: Allied vs Japanese: Early War
Feb 21 - Feb 27 > Sabre > Rhine: Allied vs German - Late war
Feb 28 - Mar 06 > Mr Fork > Greece: Allies vs German 1943
Mar 07 - Mar 13 > Brady > Soloman: Allies vs Japanese - Late 1942/Early 43
Mar 14 - Mar 20 > Sabre > Fin-Russia: German vs Russian 1944
Mar 21 - Mar 27 > Jarbo > Tunisa: Allied vs German - 1943
Mar 28 - Apr 03 > Mr Fork > Rhine: 1944 German vs Allies
Apr 04 - Apr 10 > Brady > SLot 43: Japanese vs Allies
Apr 11 - Apr 17 > Sabre > Baltic: Russia vs German
Apr 18 - Apr 24 > Jarbo > Phillipines: Japanese vs Allies- Late War
Apr 25 – May 01 > Fork > Fin-Rus: Germans/Fins vs Rus- May 44

Frankly, I love this terrain and this set up.  Had a great fight over the weekend with a couple of La5's against my lone uber-Brewster.  They had altitude on me, and I thought they were gonna clean my chronometer.  Unfortunately for them, they blew their altitude advantage and could never get their attacks synchronized.  Both went down and I landed with a damaged flap.  Man, I love that FM2!

I noticed you like this scenario.

;)

Could we do something p38ish next?  Something where the majority of allied aircraft would be the p38?  I would like to both fly them and fight them.  THis would be european theater of course.

I believe one of our new CT Staffers is planning something along those lines.  Don't quote me of course, as plans can change.

I think this setup was much funner without the 109g10, and yak9u .

Both the 8th AF and the 9th AF used P-38's in the Western Europe theater.

P-38L, P-47's, P-51's, B-17, B-26, A-20 vs 109-G's, 190's (all of 'em), Ju88, Me110-G2 would be a pretty good matchup.   I guess you could even leave the 109F-4 for those that like it more than the G's (I think Eagler prefers the F-4.)

Of course if you have Runstangs, that'll be the plane you see the most from the Allieds.  ;)

Well just pull the runstang!  I would rather see what the p38 can do on both sides than what a p38 with a mustang flitting about can do.   No reason to keep it that real.

Unless memory serves me poorly, I believe the bulk of the P-51's were stationed in England as bomber escorts.  So, if you use the Rhine terrain, the above planeset minus the P-51 would be fairly historical and balanced.  Of course, the 109G-10 would be a handful, but how often does the LW have an advantage?

Ya 4 of those set up's above have had P38's in them but as mentioned above they were not used to much since their were better fighters(more popular) ones available. I am very found of the P38 having spent a ton of time in it in the MA, back when I played for rank in their it was my Attack plane, doing a CT set up that featured it is certainly posable, it might be to much for the Pac plane set but certainly doable for the Europeen one.

There were P51's in either North Africa or Southern Italy
Escorts for the 15th Air force...the 99th (Redtails) were there for sure

P-51B would be cool with the P-38 and P47s
