Last night I did a few sorties, nothing special, but I did have a lot of fun, so I just thought I'd share some of it

I took up a Ju-88 just for kicks. My gunner dumped, so on my bomb run someone got behind me and pinged my engines good. One quit shortly after that, and the other was smoking quite badly. Throttling back I started a shallow dive for home.
I finally arrived at the field, losing altitude all the way to keep the plane flying straight. On final I realised I was waaaay too high, and sideslipping almost threw me out of control due to the trim being off, so I decided to go around. When I applied full throttle to the remaining engine the plane basically flew sideways for a few seconds, then stabilized and slowly began to climb. I retracted everything, fought the stall to hold altitude and made a _very_ gentle turn back to the field. Since I came in a bit off the runway heading I had to do a hard turn right over the end of the rwy, stall horn blaring and me trimming like mad to keep the plane in the air.
I touched down, thinking I'd made it, but when the speed slowed the plane started rolling to the left. WTF! I immediately applied full right aileron, and trimmed right to help me hold it, but eventually the wingtip touched, and I ground to a halt right on one of the taxiways after a wild ground roll. Turns out that a landing gear was stuck and didn't come down, but I hadn't noticed during the earlier excitement. I did live, though, even if I got a ditch.
Now that was a memorable mission, even though I didn't accomplish anything other than getting home in one piece
