Question of Style

Once you've saddled up on a bogie and shot him up enough to be sure he's going down, do you, if possible, stay back there shooting him 'til he explodes or do you break off and watch him go down?

Personally, I like to see the nme plane spiralling out of control and plummeting to earth.  Although, hitting nme until it explodes, while not good on ammo consumption, stops kill stealing and makes sure you don't run into debris.

I only put enough rounds into the enemy to be sure his plane is no longer functional.  If it explodes in front of me, so be it.  If someone wants to waste their energy and ammo chasing a falling plane, let them.  There are always other targets.

Just enough so hes going down.

Many times I'll let a guy go that I've put some rounds into even though hes still flying just so I can keep my alt or energy advantage.

I don't really care if someone else gets the kill and 9 times out of 10 if you ping someone they go totally defensive and dive for the dirt. I'm not going to dive down with him and be easy meat for 3 other guys that were with him

I think most of the times firing opportunities are brief... if you want to survive that is. I mostly fly the P51-B these days and have learned to break off without hungrily pouring bullets into any target. Sure, more assists than I would like but I don't even bother to look if the NME goes down after a good shot, First claw back E and then see if I have the chance for another attack. If not, extend and just hope to see 'you shot down jadajada'

I usually hit till it pops if I can I have been burned too many times thinking I downed someone only to find out he is on my six while I am looking for another target.I know some pilots me included will purposely spin out of controll once pingged making the other pilot think he has a kill, this has worked for me although not all the time but quite a few times it has saved me.:)

Depends on who else is in guns range, and how much you trust them. Or even if there are other enemy's you may need ammo for.

In a pack, nail em till they blow.

Flying alone I'll blow a wing/tail off & watch em spiral down.
