Frogm4n I don't really know you. Is your handle based solely on your love of diving? Bush isn't a deserter. I'm assuming you are calling him one because you've heard lots of people call him one. They are all wrong.

It's pretty amusing actually. A bunch of people with no clue of the fatality rate of pilot trainees and/or all-weather operations, especially in the '60s and '70s, somehow find a way to call the current Commander in Chief a 'deserter' or a 'coward' based on blatant lies containing a minescule sliver of truth (the best kind of lies, no surprise - they come from accomplished liars). It smacks of Dan Rather, who blatantly lied in his reports on the war in Viet Nam, calling George Bush Sr. a 'wimp' on National Television. Or extreme democrats accusing George Bush Sr. of 'abandoning' one of his crewmen when he bailed out of a burning TBM.

The current Commander in Chief is not a deserter. He never was. Please show me any documentation from the U.S.A.F., U.S.A.F.R., A.N.G., or D.O.D. where he was charged with UA, let alone desertion. Anyone who has ever been in the military, and especially anyone who has ever been in the reserves, understands the exact circumstances of our current President's former service in the military - and it's a galaxy away from 'desertion'.

your right, he just walked away from service for a year. last time i check if a regular guy did that they would get in a tad of trouble. but when you have connections its all good.

oh and frogman comes from my love of putting socks on in the morning.

He didn't check in, but that happens alot in the reserves and I have never seen anonye officially reprimanded for similar actions. Usually a stern talking to by the unit commander. I assume you understand my disagreeing with the equivalence assigned to his actions and the term 'deserter'?

Of course it is but the question was when was he last on a jet not when was the last tim ehe was on a four engine jet.  So. follow thje logic no John, first he flies to West Coast on AF1.  He gets off Air force 1.  At that time, the last jet he was on was Air Force 1.  Then, this happened later in time John, he got into Navy 1, the S-3 Viking, which is also a jet.  He flew that to the carrier Abraham Lincoln and got out.  Thus, the last time he was on a jet wa not Air Force 1, but was Navy 1.

Shut up frogman.  You know not of what you speak.

Some day, ask me how I separated from the National Guard and what they did about it.  Then feel free to ask my wife how she separated from the National Guard and what they did about it.  And while your at it, ask anyone that had a change of job, venue or lifestyle that separated from the Guard or Reserves and what they did to them.

The Reserves and the National Guard are not active duty.  If you'd take a second to learn the differences, you wouldn't be looking like such an idiot right now.

I did the Reserves for 24 years, had a "bad" year too so only 23 count for retirement. Of course as far as frogboy is concerned that would make me a deserter then. :rolleyes:

Ah... go easy on him.  I think he's only 13 or so.  We had to create a special PG-13 section for him in the FDB forum.

He'll grow up eventually, and maybe learn a thing or two.  Either that or he'll become a democrat. :D

The F100 was the first supersonic USAF jet in service. Not the F102.
The F106 has a coke bottle fuselage not the F102.

As to Bush dodging wars. If he wasnt so keen to start wars maybe people would forgive him not wanting to participate.
If he wasnt such a hypocrite, people might forgive him having dady make his drug charges disappear.
I think that this carrier stunt was just a photo op for the coming campaign. Like Macarthy shooting coconuts from a b17 tail gun position for a photo op.

But he is as american as they get. The support he gets here really indicates that the US got the leader they want. Whether they really elected him or not.

The primary mission of the F-102 was to intercept and destroy enemy aircraft.   It was the world's first supersonic all-weather jet interceptor and the USAF's first operational delta-wing aircraft. Built by Convair (General Dynamics); the F-102 was the first all-weather supersonic jet interceptor. First to use the 'area rule' design concept which pushed the speed beyond the sonic barrier, the F-102 was to be superseded by the more advanced F-106, which could exceed 1,000 mph. The F-102, which first flew in 1953, was able to fly in the supersonic speed range only after being redesigned according to the precepts of the transonic area rule.   The result is the well-known "Coke bottle" shaped fuselage.   The first aircraft to which the area-rule principle was applied was the Convair F-102 delta-wing fighter.


Either that or the smithsonian is all wrong.
