Hi All,
I'm not going to say "I ain't touched nothin" cos I was tweaking. Usually I play around (One thing at a time) and backtrack once it gets unstable. But this time I've done something and I cannot work out what.

Basically I cannot turn off my PC anymore (Yes I know pulling the power plug works).

No matter what option I chose from the shutdown menu (Standby, Shutdown, Restart) my system restarts. Pressing the power button gives me the same result. What have I done? No BIOS tweaks just messing in Windows.

Thanks in advance

I know it's a little late for this sort of thing.  but when I'm messing around with settings and such, I keep a little log of what I've changed.  even if I can't undo what I've done it helps someone smarter than me figure out exactly how I screwed it up.

and worst case scenerio I can highlight that section as 'things never to do again'

Messing with your power management settings at all?  Dunno.. that's all I can think of.

And... you don't have to pull the power cord, just hold the power button in for 4 seconds and it will shut off, no matter what the settings.

BTW, I'd still check my bios and make sure that it is not set to "reset on powerdown".

And... change your handle.  With a name like that, you're just inviting these type of situations. ;)

Hi Apathy,Mini D, Eagler.
Thanks for the info.
Yup I kept a log and with the help of the link posted by Eagler I found it.

I had enabled "Fast Shutdown" in the registry setting it back to the previous setting cured it and all is well with the world again. :) Can't understand Why I missed it when I was working back through what I had done.

Didn't know about holding the power button for 4 secs, Nice one Mini D.

Thanks again all.
