lol they are going to start building Mustangs as well. isn't this ironic: 190s and P-51s built by the same company? Kurt Tank must be rolling in his grave like a propeller by now.

I think thats just great, that companys are doing this the world over, building old warbirds from scratch and helping to restore the originals as well, even better is that thier are people who are willing to fund these endevors and purchase these planese.

Interesting that they will sell you a 190D9. All you need is the engine

i think what they are talking about is replacing the wings of a P-51 which to there thinking would be worn out on a original. but ive heard of people who will build you an entirely new p-51 from scratch. if you have the cash anything is posible. i would like a brand new p-51. the 190s that these guys make look small( look at the canopy 3/4 scale maybe?). my dad used to talk about after WW2 that you could buy planes and tanks for super cheap, $25 for a sherman and old warplanes for those kind of prices. if people had know at that time what they would be worth they wouldnt have beat their swords into plowsheres and parked them in barns like elvis's harley.

*yawn* let me know when they build a new P-47.  :D

Actually that 190 looks sweet.  I'm sure it will be a movie star someday... hopefully in something closer to Dark Blue World than Pearl Harbor.  I'm a big fan of FlugWerk's 'werk'.

Bigsky,

Fw 190 is a small plane if you compare it to the american designs. No idea if they built it to 1:1.

not really ....

the A series was radial engines.... the d series inline meaning a much longer cowl and stiffer forward front to the plane.

also the d series added like 1.5 feet to the tail length to accomodate the heavier engine and bring the center of gravity back some.
I don't know what to put here yet.

These aircraft are incredibly expensive for the initial batches because the cost of the machinery to manufacture the parts and tools/jigs etc is phenominal.
But as long as those people with money AND passion keep supporting these endevours by buying those aircraft we may one day see these sorts of aircraft sold for an even more affordable price.Options like group ownerships could even mean a pilot of relatively low financial status could own a share in a warbird and fly one.

I hope the company do so well they are rolling in money! :) that way theres more chance the likes of us will get to fly one of these things :D

For now I think its unlikely anyone could afford to fly one unless they are truelly LOADED with money :) ..er and well Im not ....are you? :D

edit: actually i just thought, there is always the option of those aircraft that are scaled down copies of warbirds.Although they are smaller they fly and handle similarly to the real sized counterparts. I saw a 190a8 for sale once in a flyby mag and it was under £20,000 which really isnt that bad is it?
The plane was something like a 2:3 scale or something but it still LOOKED fantastic in its real WW2 markings. The pilot was pictured in it if i remember right and it didnt look too small at all.Id settle even for a copy! anyone have any pics of these copied/kit types? there must be others produced? maybe spifires or p51s have scale copies/kit planes?

They are different from the firewall forward and they have an plug extending the fueselage. But with the tail and center fueselage and cockpit and the whole wing the same. They are about 70% the same. I think that qualifies for very simulare.
