New video, game no play
« on: May 06, 2003, 07:30:40 PM »
Installed a GeForce FX 5200.  It replaced a Voodoo 2000 PCI.

New card working fine, but unable to launch AH.  I recall there being a video setup routine, but I can't find it on my PC.

Make sure that you have DirectX 9a  and the latest official Nvidia driver.

To access the AH video setup, start up AH and when the clipboard screen pops up, click on Video.

Open HTC folder on your HD and go to settings folder there. and search for video7.cfg  Completely delete this file, and then launch AH again. It will generate a new video setting file and detect your new card.

Re-install directX if you haven't already done so.

New problem.  While playing game, or leaving it on while AFK (In tower, nothing major going on) monitor goes blank and monitor says check video card connection.

Recently used soft reset (reset button) and got 8 bios beeps.  Manual for Tyan Tsunami says this means video card not found, or video card memory issue.

Thinking of replacing video card for another non ASUS Geforce FX 5200.

Opinions?

The obvious of making sure your card is seated firmly in place.

Then - could be a badcard or bad AGP slot.

Thanks Estes.  Yep, took care of the obvious.

Estes, brings back memories of a lot of model rocketry.
