Go straight to the training arena and request a trainer.  Do not pass the MA, do not enter the CT.

Learn with the stal limiter off.

Start off in spit IX.

Most of all, have patience.  Best sim out there.

 Welcome Gigg.

First I'd highly recommend you learn to fly offline before you start your 2 week trial.  Read the help files and learn all the commands before setting foot online......that way you (and us) avoid all the "How do I drop bombs" questions.

Then once you've got a vague idea what you're doing come and join the mayhem otherwise known as the Main Arena.

Trainers are available for the not so clear stuff (can be booked ahead of time or just show up in the TA and see if one is around) and if you hook up with a vet in the MA most will help a newbie.

For the not so chaotic experience the Combat Theater is open 24x7 with regularly changing WW2 setups.  We also hold the following events in the Special Events Area:

Squad Ops on Fridays - Squadron only event vaguely similar to S3s (I'm told).
CAP on saturdays - Multiple lives, branching campaign and medals (on hold right now due to the scenario running)
Scenarios - every few months a new scenario, current is Guadalcanal, registration required.
King of the hill - last man standing A2A combat event.
Snapshots on various nights of the week - Various setups, just come fly.

Did I forget anything?

Hi, Gigg.  Before you get too far, take a look at this site:

http://www.musketeers.org/kumori/reclist.html

Then take a moment to print off the materials at Help->Game Overview->Aircraft and Vehicles on the http://www.hitechcreations.com home page so you'll know what planes can do what at what speed with what guns.  You might also want to visit the threads on the Training forum here.

Then take a look at the http://www.netaces.org site.

I would suggest you start with the Spitfire IX, then try the N1K2,  the FM2, the F6F, and the LA-7, then the P-51D, P-47, and the 109s and 190s. The Corsair will bite you on landing if you're not ready for the prop torque.

When you're ready to get smacked down in the Main Arena, make sure you join Rooks.  We're a small country, but populated by great players who are always willing to help out a new guy who shows promise (even if you get shot down repeatedly).

There was another post here by a guy that joined recently that also has some good advice in it.

Most importantly you wanna find yerself a good squadron to join. I hear them VF-17 guys are pretty damned fantastic. They have all sorts of fun flying cor-sairs and crashing on carrier decks and stuff. They get together bout once in a blue moon or so but ....

Cor-sairs are fun. Funner than ponies. ;)

Heya gigg if you fly ponys come to Rooks. I used to fly with the 352nd in WBs. I started my own fighter group with dracon from the 31st. Asmech also flys with us sometimes.

The Bronco mustangs another dedictated 51 squadron also fly rooks.
