panzer gets killed by m3 and any other gun that happens to shoot at it.

this damage model is still not fixed at all on the panzer and ostwind.

and the p38 needs tuffing up too.

is that too much to ask?

let me clarify my statement of ground vehicles are terrible:


panzer: damage model is unplayable and unusable. makes need for large 37mm guns totally uneeded when a few 20mm can kill it and a single 7.9mm can knock wheels off it.

ostwind: track bug makes this one almost unplayable. turret damage model is a-ok but lower hull should be very tuff as should panzers lower hull damage model.

m3: fixed even though it has duke nukem bfg 50cal buff gun

m16: fixed as m3 with duke nukem x 4 bfg

m8: has a lot of trouble accelerating and is killed quickly by m3 and m16 as it tickles them with multiple 37mm ap hits

I couldn't get ANYWHERE in an M8 (before latest patch).  Has this been fixed, if not, why have ground vehicles if you can't get more than a mile without bogging down on flat terrain?!

Cit's got a point!

I don't mind dieing to twin Hurri's 40mm.
But when a pony fly's by and does more damage in one pass than 4 hurris, 2 mossies & a 190 you KNOW somethings wrong.
(BTW <S> nash)

Also panzer continues to lose tracks & not show it in damage. (everything green but goes round in circles after a single .50 ping to a track)

M8 even on flat ground feels like it's running though 6 inches of muck. Just can't seem to get rolling.

75mm HE should kill field targets (fuel ord etc) with single direct hit, or 2 close misses.

Should also not take 25 hits to kill a hanger. (although with resupply it's not Quite so bad)  :)

he may have a point, brother ghost.  Two passes on a Osti in a Hurri IIc and it went BOOM!!!  Of course daddog had peppered it some, too.  But I'm assuming you heard all sorts of pings with the other planes.  *shrugs*

How could anyone argue the fidelity of the Damage model, the FM, the Weapons model, and anything that has been simulated here. I mean its all from set, proven data.

Show some test data that illustrates a problem and HTC is and has always been willing to fix errors.  By that I mean, run some tests in the current version of AH.  If it illustrates a problem, I'm sure it will be put on HTC's todo list.

Simply being sarcastic will get you nowhere, except to the top of the "whiner" list.

Ive said nothing on my opinion of GV's up till now so please dont call this a whine.
This is assuming the panzerIV has a cosiderably thicker armour than a M16 etc.

I found the m8 great fun and never noticed the sluggish performance until it was pointed out and i began to realise i wasnt going as fast as i should lol  :)

the panzer i have stopped using because of 3 reasons:
1: I die in it even when 50cals are fired at me from over 300 yards and i simply dont beleive they would penetrate a panzer.
2:m3s or m16s have just as much ability as my panzer to A) kill other vehicles and they are faster to boot.B) take down ground objects<ostwinds case>
3:the HE is next to useless as a base attacking weapon. It seems ONLY direct hits and too many of them imho will take things out.

Im not complaining im just stateing the FACTS.I dont drive gvs much anymore because they just have lost their appeal

take a track out SURE! but make it rare for the sake of gv drivers SANITY!  :)

when we get the m4 sherman are we going to be able to tell it is prone to 'cooking up' with present damage model?
do you 'feel' safer in a panzer or ostwind(hull) than in a lightly armed m16 or m3?
if we get a sherman m4 and it feels like the present panzer IV for toughness why will we bother using it over supposedly weaker armoured vehicles which go faster?

This is purely a request by me to look into how much we want our vehicles to play to their strenghs.The way i would envision a game like this is light tanks(m8 size) can be taken out with a good 20mm burst but only damaged with 50cal/13mm or less.
medium tanks(panzerIV,sherman,M3 Lee,matilda,etc etc) should be impervious in all but rear section attacks with anything of =<20mm but 50cals and 13mm should do next to nothing but cause splinters on the insides.
Heavy armoured tanks (tiger, t34, panther, later shermans etc etc) should be pretty much impervious to all but specialised attacks like bombing or rockets.
I think ALL types should be destroyed by a 250lb or higher bomb even with a near miss.I feel if you get bombed then its curtains  :D .
Have you ever seen that film of the russian tank getting hit by a bomb? it was thrown into the air and you could see it falling apart in the blast.you ever see what a 500lb bomb did to london? it threw cars and stuff all over the place.
In AH bombs seem useless against gvs, but a <15mm MG can kill them? this cant be right can it? (hope patch has helped but havent tested)

lets have safety from mgs in med-heavy armoured vehicles! Make them the slow but tough things they were.lets 'feel' the great difference thicker metal around you makes?
want to go fast? you gotta take risks like it should be  :)
I remember we had a long period where mausers wouldnt hurt GVs at all while the 50cals killed everything, eventually and it was changed i think but my point is we learned to bomb them in packs just as i think it should be.As it is why bother with a bomb if you can take a track out with a little burst of your guns?
 ah well just my thoughts on it.

Yes the GV thing is madning, the reasion for this(for me)is that I keep expecting the same leval of atention errr love err modeling that the planes get, this just doesent seam to be the case.

 If you want great armor modeling go to WW2 online, the flight model suck's their though.
