Pizza ack o' doom
« on: May 08, 2003, 11:09:18 AM »
I was flying in Pizza last night and the AI ground fire was nasty _ heavy, accurate and seemingly able to traverse great distances in a usually successful effort to divest my plane of usable parts.
Are field guns any different in Pizza, (more numerous, more accurate, more ill-tempered?) or was I just having a bad night?

sry this makes me chuckle how you personify a AI computer program i know i have thought they are all out to "get me" too :D

AFAIK all AI ack in the MA has the same "Lethality" setting ie: the degree of accuracy. there is the issue of MANNABLE ack getting you though. there are some absoultly amazing shots here in AH that can hit a fighter @ 4k in a manned field gun.

back to AI ack.... the trick is their aiming method. i dont know all the "technical" parts but from what i understand is the "angular velocity" they use. meaning if you travel in a straight predictable line then will home in on you... guessing your next position and shooting to that point.

oh well my 2¢
I don't know what to put here yet.

It seems to me, the higher the perk value of the plane you're flying, the more accurite the AI ack.:D

A/I ground gun lethality is controlled by 3 arena variables, one for each country.  The specific variable is "GroundLethality" and has no effect on accuracy.  It only effects the likelihood of damage when it hits you, not how often it hits you.  I believe the MA is set to a value of 1.0 for all three countries.  In the CT, we typically set it to 0.7.  So, instead of the first hit castigating you plane, you might actually survive 2 or 3 hits with your parts pretty much intact.

1.09 (?) introduced a bug that makes it impossible to read the arena settings... It's no longer clear whether it is 1.0 or anything else - or even equal for all countries.

Also keep in mind that perk planes land jelly side down in proportion to the number of perks and the expense of the carpet.
