DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) -- Annika Sorenstam will donate half of what she earns at the PGA Tour's Colonial tournament to the charities of the LPGA Tour event held the same week.
Sorenstam is taking a sponsor's exemption to the men's tournament May 22-25, making her the first woman to compete on the PGA Tour in 58 years.
That week also is the 25th anniversary of the LPGA Corning Classic, the fifth-oldest among regular LPGA Tour events.
``The people of Corning have been very supportive of my decision to play the Bank of America Colonial,'' Sorenstam said in a statement Friday. ``I really appreciate their support, and I have decided to donate half of what I earn at the Colonial to the LPGA Corning Classic and its charities.''
