FWIW, French companies
« on: May 12, 2003, 10:27:31 AM »
I started to boycott French products some time ago as a means of giving my personal response to the way France (and Germany too) behaved about the Iraq war. They are entitled to their opinions but the "high moral ground" didn't seem to be where they were coming from. IMO.

I understand they are allies and all but I think they stepped over the line in their actions. (or inactions if you will).

I was sent this as an e-mail from a buddy of mine. If you feel the same way then it may be of use to you. If you don't, then feel free to support these companies. That is what makes a free market a great thing. :) This is, after all, a grass roots response to the government of france and the stance they took in the war as well as after.

I have not had time to check these out to see if it is accurate, so take it with a grain of salt.

France has every right to disagree with America, but France has moved from simple dissent to active hostility toward America.  France President Chirac warned East European nations that if they sided with the US, France would oppose their membership in the European Union.  This very week, William Safire reported in the New York Times that France has been secretly helping to arm Iraq and has been helping Irag build long range missiles.  These same missiles may NOW possibly be used against our own US soldiers.  Just as France has exercised its right to disagree, all Americans can exercise their right to boycott and help countries that do not stand with us.  French Products and Companies to Boycott:

Some folks don't understand the diffrence between a boycott and a burning. If you own any of these products, you should not throw them away.. use them. the money has already been spent.. you can't bring it back. Tossing serviceable french made items out just because they are french is absurd.. and accomplishes nothing other than wasting your already spent money.

Boycott means you just avoid buying these items in the future.

I know it's obvious.. but I still see folks pouring out french wine they already own... instead of drinking it.

I admire the conviction, but marvel at the stupidity. ;)

Black Bush and Jameson are Irish whiskeys, not French. They are distilled in Ireland and are definitely Irish. There is nothing crap about Irish Whiskey, Martlet and it definitely does not suck GtoRA".
You have something against the Irish too????  Where's me shillelagh????

Airbus is partly French but is multinational being built in several countries including Britain. Is Britain on this list now? I should also mention that much of the equipment and accesories on Airbuses, from the engines to avionics are American. There's a case of shooting yourselves in the foot or the head more appropriately.

Jerry Springer, he's originally from England? Where do the French come in?

Krups is German.

Really if you're going to have a witchhunt or a lynch mob at least get your targets right. Irish Whiskey indeed!

You know this anti French thing was originally quite funny but now it's really getting stupid and childish. Need I remind you that the war was against IRAQ. They were the enemy.

Yeah, but you got to admit it's a laugh to watch.

Kind of like watching Wee-man kick himself in the head in 'love muffin The Movie'.

Oh?

Polish yer glasses, bud.

The 'enemy' was and remains state supported terrorisim.. and any nation that supprts terrorist regimes by funding them, as FRANCE, GERMANY, RUSSIA, etc, did is on MY 'enemy' list.

YOU might think it's 'stupid' to NOT support national programs that fund terror operations, I don't. YOU might think it's just fine to spend your dollars on merchandise and services that originate with those nations that have diplomatic and fininacial ties to terrorist regimes, I do not.

You are of course entitled to your opinion... and you can, thanks to the fact that you live in a free trade society, elect to do as you please with your finances.. and spend those funds in such a way as to make it even easier for the folks that want to see our nation suffer more 9/11's accomplish their goals.

Enjoy yer wine, cheeze and club med getaway. Paid for in blood.

Wee-man was on punk'd, too.  He was driving a station wagon, which I found odd.

He's funny, though.
