I guess that means none of you Yanks will be renting 'The Patriot' on video any more. The only thing missing off the British uniforms in that film was the SS logo.  Talk about implausible.

Swoop has it right, Brits only show how much they like someone by taking the piss, none of this hugging and touchy feely crap. That stiff upper lip thing is very true, until they've had a few drinks that is.

The English have no respect for you unless you beat them at something. (The French are struggling here).

The Irish and English have been fighting each other for so long like brothers that we almost like each other, almost.

Still, I think NUKE has lost the plot here. Is he in love or something?

For centuries Ireland was the back door to a continental invasion of England (especially when England went Protestant). Occupation was security - it wasn't as though there was tremendous wealth to be robbed, unlike India etc. And we couldn't send our convicts over there because it was within swimming distance of Liverpool.

But that was a long time ago. My best mate from uni had Irish parents - really good people. In fact, the only Irish people I haven't liked were those from Enniskillen when I went out with a girl from there. I don't think they liked the English much. Probably for good reason, although most of them were friendly.

BTW The Patriot was a great piece of propaganda. If I was the King of England, I'd have all the English actors in that film shot for treason. Nah, it was pretty funny. And the battle scenes were good.

:)  btw, I do love England.  They gave us The Beatles and Led Zeppelin.  Been listening to them both all day.  I've also consumed more English beer than any other nation's beer.  ;)  Tho with me brewing my own, USA will catch up, but considering what I'm brewing is basically Newcastle or Samuel Smiths Nut Brown, it's still "English."

Hell, my surname is English origin (I think.)  :)
