Ya know...I'm not really sure that I like all these "feel-good" kills that are being handed out in the MA, now-a-days.  By "feel-good" kills, I mean the credit for an air-to-air kill that you get just because you happened to be in the vicinity of a lawn dart pilot.

SpitIX Dweeb crashes into outhouse at A81.
System: You shot down SpitIX Dweeb #1

Wtf?  I haven't even taken off yet?!?  I never saw the Spit!  My trigger is still cold...never touched the damn thing, for Cod's sake.    :p

One time, I floundered around in a pretty good-sized furball and got credit for 2 kills; pretty good considering I was blacked out 90% of the time & never shot much of anything.

So, as long as the kills are so easy to come by in the MA now, I'm just going to find a Bish and follow him around until he loops it into a mountain side.  Or, I'll dance around the outskirts of a furball & soak up a few kills each time an La7 becomes a submarine.  :D   Life is good even for bad pilots in the MA.

If that's the only way you can get kills, why are you squeaking about it?

Lighten up, Ack-Ack.   :D

...because it'd be nice to know that our scores were earned...not padded.

If it's score you're concerned with, prox kills are not factored into your score as far as k/d is concerned. They are included on the stats page though.

On another note, quit worrying about yer score and have fun:p

Typhoon dove on my 120knt P47 today.  I saw him coming so I headed towards a big mountain.  He dove, fired, and as he tried to pull up he snap rolled inverted and exploded on the mountain side.

That's a nice feeling, but I rather like the "Low angle HO approach vulching a******". Yes the one low enought that allows you to fire HO on the taking off run....heheheh....there are some that even call you HO dweeb when falling on their now single-wing airframe.  :D

"Now-a-days"? It's always been that way - we've always had manoever kills.

Ah, well then I'll just look at K/D ratios.

As for worrying...I'm not.  :D   The thread was tongue-in-cheek.  :p

One time, I was on the deck in an FM2 with a Spit IX chasing my tail so I went into a flat turn (no speed to go nose-high) and so did he.  As we went round and round, getting slower and slower, our wings dipped a bit lower and lower, and eventually he carved a wingtip into the water and I got the prox kill on him.  The way I see it, I earned that kill!

WWII pilots were given credit for "proxy kills".  The kills which happend because they augered either avoiding being shot or simply bad judgement.  This is probably why HTC gives credit for the kill but no score.  Because this is a game, proxies are common.

I like to bring pilots on my bellybutton into a stall fight (if I last long enough to do it).   My record is three proxy kills inside a minute when a bunch of gangbangers tried to get me.  Fortunately they were all bad shots and couldn't keep up in the 100mph and lower turns.  All augering to get a shot at me.

I probably still bit the big one on the flight but it was still fun!

Ah, I wasn't aware of that fact.  Kind of changes my opinion of these "proxy kills."

I like hearing the stories others have brought to the thread, though.  :D
