Well guys...

Today I quit my job.

I thought I'd spend the summer together with the kids before looking for another job. I've been working 10-14 hour days for too long, so it will be a nice change of pace. And living in a socialistic country has its benefits, the government does take care of you if you are unemployed and especially if you have kids...not to mention if you are unemployed with TWO kids.

So anyway... if any of you characters still doubt what I work with, this is your last opportunity to do an IP check. ;)

I know how you feel!

I had had a good job as a manager for a computer repair company but I had to travel to all 20 locations every month to visit all the Techs so I was gone from 6am till 9pm every night.

It got so bad that I wouldn't see my kids till the weekend.

I took a job at my local school corp as their first computer tech and took a $10k cut in pay but it's been worth it. I now can see my kids anytime I want and I'm only 5 minutes from home.

That was 10 years ago and I haven't regretted 1 day of it.
I have been reborn a new man!

Notice I never said a better man.

Oh geeezzzzzz. Going from a job being a responsible judge to being an out of work lawyer. How low can you possibly go!!!!!!

Take care of the family bud. They get to choose what old folks home you live in in your old age! :)
DEFINITION OF A VETERAN
A Veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life."

WTG Hortlund,

Too many people in this day & age put their jobs and careers ahead of their family. Glad to see you have your priorities in order. :)

Does that mean you're going to stop being so judge-mental? :)

Sorry - couldn't resist. Good luck with the future.

I was looking through some pics of my children when they were little the other night with my wife. All I could feel was regret.

I told her that should I be blessed enough to live another ten years, I was afraid that I would look back to the current and feel the same.

Just not sure how to change and still feed everyone.

The best life is a simple and humble life....when money and possessions hold no value to you, I believe we should all make the necessary changes while we can.

God willing, I will make that change someday before it's too late.

I hear ya, Rude. One of the biggest fears I have as a parent is that my kids will one day say after they graduate high school, "Where were you?"

Consequently, I have made it a priority to have enough balance between work and family and gaming so that I can keep everyone happy. It's harder than it sounds.

Fortunately, IBM is a great company to work for, and a sane balance between work and family is company policy!
