I've haven't tested on my ATI 9000 but my Dad "SE" has loaded the drivers and here is what he said to me today regarding his 9700 PRO...

300 on the up view!!!!!!!!!!!!
110 on the RNWY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In the tower with clip board 100 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hope it stays

I would say a gain of 30%

He sounds just a bit happy about the new 3.4 drivers

These drivers are great. All my games I can see fPS increases. DOD fonts are perfect. Only problem is with COmbat Mission 2. You cant run AA and AS or the text disappears.. Im going to submit this error to the Cat makers.

I loaded them on my AIW 9700 Pro last nite. I saw no frame rate improvement on my system in Aces High (1200x1600) but I think they make it look a little better.
Had to remove and reinstall them twice because I forgot to turn virus protection off or maybe I got the installation order wrong the first time. I had read on another board that a 25 % performance increase was possible I sure don't see it. Oh well would of been nice.

What is the "proper" way to install the 3.4 drivers? I've seen several comments on how to do this but I'm hesitating. Running the 3.2s now.

DO NOT HAVE any PROGRAMS RUNNING at INSTALL or D/L

It is simplicity at it's best in D/L

Be sure to have the PANEL also 3D RAGE.

In add remove programs

Delete ATI control panel
Delete ATI Display Drivers

Go to
C:\WINDOWS\inf

and remove all all entires that start with "ati " and "oem"

Run Regedit and browse to

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE

remove all ATI entires.

In regedit again browse to

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services

remove all ATI entires once more.

Reboot. Install new display driver, after that reboot then install Control Panel.

Your system should be cleaned of all previous driver now.
