I used to live right by Chino (my Granddad lived right in Chino). My friends and I were WWII a/c buffs, and spent many a Saturday hanging out at Planes of Fame. Back then, their collection of restored birds was not as big, but the bone-yard out back made up for it. They even had the shell of an old Bristol Blenheim sitting there, and an (as yet) unrestored Me262, the two-place night-fighter version. Inside, they had an old bomber-gunner training device, the WWII equivalent of video game. You looked through a periscope-like binocular eye piece, and used motorcycle grips to move the cross hairs around as an old 8-mm film of fighter planes played. The last time I was there was in 1979, for their big annual airshow (used to be called the "Gathering of Eagles" airshow...don't know if they still use that name today). Paid 50 cents to walk through a B-17 they had on static display. Tripping down memory lane now, eh boys?
