Scenario Play
« on: June 18, 2000, 03:57:00 PM »
There's been alot of talk about how stale the game's becoming and the lack of a new version and all.  There's nothing stale about the game, it's the best one out there. The problem is the constant arena play, in my opinion, we need some organized scenarios in the worst way. We need a great big invasion of italy or north africa kinda thing with tanks and early war planes. Something organized and run on a friday night or the weekend so we dont have to stay up till midnight here on the east coast to participate. I'm suprised that the ht guys haven't been runnin stuff. In my opinion, it's gonna make or break this game in the long run, especially with you know what comin' down the pike.
It would be nice if a schedule of events was posted somewhere permanantly as opposed to buried in a BBS thread.  Some of us dont spend all of our time reading the bbs.

Right now there is a player run group setup to run historical/special events, that is called Jokers Low.

You can check out the schedule at
 http://www.hpcisp.com/%7Ekieren/jokers.htm

A number of members currently run a weekly event called "Snapshots", that are similar in format/content to Scenario Lights in WB's, or Warnights in AW.

We have also written several full scale scenarios, and are just waiting for the Terrain Editor to come out of beta to hold them.

The first one is ironically enough, a North Africa scenario called "Afrika Corp, the Final Days".

You can find more information about it at:
 http://web.mountain.net/~arringto/afrika/

As soon as we get a terrain designed, we will be holding signups and schedule the event.

Crash I was thinking the same thing this morning.  I'm not sick of the sim, I'm sick of the arena.  As Vermillion said, we've got some plans ready to go.  Need terrain editor and CM tools pronto!

To be honest, now that we can turn off the tracers (or will be able to), the main thing AH lacks is SL's and something like the S3's.  They're the best thing about WB.

See ya' at the S3 oh Funky One!

We're just about all systems go on really pushing special events now.  We just needed to get the new arena config menus in 1.03 done, the terrain editor released, and an official CM group established.  All those things will be happening real soon.

Hi folks,

Proud to say that I'm the newest member of the Jokers Low, and these guys are chompin' at the bit to turn out some good historical events for the community.

I'm working on a couple of scenarios that I plan to submit to the group.

Look for some 1941/42 'Circus' Scenarios, some Med 1943 stuff, and perhaps a Kuban Bridgehead in the near future...

Vermillion's North Africa Scenario is a good one, and we look forward to running that as well.

Cool, knew there was stuff in the works, but didnt know when it was coming. Thanx fer the reply pyro.  Any way we could have a spot on the BBS just for the scenario events schedule, maybe a link off the main page.  If people have to dig through the bbs to find it alot of people wont know it's being run and turnout will suck.  I read the bbs pretty regularly and pretty much have missed any events run until today.
Verm, if ya need help, squadron/group leaders, let me know.  I gl'd a few scenarios in AW.  Can't be on weeknights though, cant be up till midnight playin' on the 'puter, bad fer me career and all
