Question on the HTC Crew
« on: May 20, 2003, 08:29:32 AM »
Hi,

Just curious. Do you fly AH  for fun (at least sometimes) or only for bussines? Or to put it this way, do you have some spare time to make it for fun?

Metronom,

While I would never begin to speak for HT and company, I have flown in their sims for many years.  In my experiance they do both.  I have yet to see any game or sim where the creators spend as much time playing their own product as the folks at HTC do.  If you see HT in the arena and he's talking in blue text, he's there to answer questions and in general to interact with his customers.  If you see him talking on the open or country channel he's just flying and having fun with the rest of us.

While I haven't seen as much of them lately I'm sure that is because they are head down working on AHII.

I miss the days Superfly and Nate would get up together :(  Yankee and Ronni would occasionally stick their head in, Pyro would sneak up and shoot ya down, HiTech would be furballing with his Hog....

I know about HT that he occasionaly fly's or comunicate in "blue". I saw Natedog a few times in the skies too. But I was wonderin, does they with all that work what they have with AH2 and that AH1 is here a couple of years, have a kind of burnout syndrome developed. Did the crew  look at the project as a game worth to play, or only as a software project?
Do they fly under other names?
Just a thought in an uneventfull houer at work

Actually Rip, they're on all the time, but only after you've logged! ;)  Seriously, it's been a long time since I've seen them all online.  Guess they're working uber overtime at the mo!

Hint: when Hitech shows up in the MA after a long absence, you know the next release is coming soon.:)

Here's hoping he puts in an appearance soon.;)

I haven't flown in awhile.  I put together a new computer for myself a couple months ago and have a new joystick/throttle setup that I've been meaning to hook up.  I've never used a throttle and joystick hats before so that's a new thing to learn that I've been putting off.

Mainly it's probably because I like to think of myself as a good pilot because I used to be pretty good but whenever I fly these days, I'm confronted by the reality that that is no longer the case.  I'm constantly outflown, my SA is poor, and my gunnery is comical.

I either need to put aside my expectations and just fly for fun regardless of results or put in the time and effort to revive my atrophied skills.

Pyro - Some tips:
  • P51 is an E fighter. Getting caught at 2K and 200MPH is deadly.
  • If your only defensive move is an easy, in-plane left-hand turn, people will expect it and roast you.
  • Flying in circles directly over a base is a good idea for coaxing people up for a fight, but then you really should do something more than that left-hand turn move.

Just some things to think about. It's not like the rest of the HTC crew are any better. You also should really should avoid flying as a squad like that, though.

But they can scoot over to the next base and be waiting for ya no matter how fast a plane you choose...   how do they do that?!?

Do this simple sentence elevate Saw and myself to the rank of Myth or demi-God ?

I dunno why but I doubt :)
