n1k is not slow. Oh wait, unless you compare it to the La7 or P51 yes it is. but for the vast majority of the MA planeset, its just as fast if not faster.
The n1k is a spitIX without the stall behaviour under 100mph (even with 2000HP engine), 4 cannons with twice the ammo and that retains almost full roll/elevator control at high speeds (whereas spits really lock up).
And of the 2 I prefer to face a spitIX. Got half the amount of guns being sprayed at me, got the ability to dive away from it (once 350mph achieved in dive, you can safely roll your plane (if your plane has good high speed control) and dive "in another direction", which the spit cannot follow.
Last night a n1k I DOVE ON from 5k alt adv, my 38 being 380mph when the n1k jinked and evaded; the n1k dove after me and stayed well inside d1.0 spraying cannon. It wasnt until my 38 was 460 mph that the n1k lost ground, but the unavoidable 20mm spray plinked 1 engine and pilot out of the fight. And I was lucky, usually such plinks rip out wings and tails. And it is precisely that kind of point-shoot flying that tinkerbell plane allows that makes it THE ride of choice of novice pilots. Because it gets kills without much knowledge of the game or ACM in general.
Refer to my previous bycicle with training wheels analogy.
