It is laughable that the only plane in the whole set you have to WORK hard to stall is the n1k. Which incidentally has one of the biggest engines in the game (2000HP).
P38 and N1k , one with counter-rotating props, the other single engined. Both on WEP. Nose up 90 degrees. The n1k will hang on prop just as long as the P-38 with no effort whatsoever from the pilot.. just like the 38 (uhh.. wtf?). Then there's the recovery! The n1k, even though it has its 2000HP engine on full WEP, will flip over and is capable of instantly turning HARD without any stall behaviour right after exiting the hang-on-prop trick, again, laughable for a plane that should be having almost the same control problems as a 109g10 on WEP at 80mph.
Add 4 cannons with d1.2 singleping cripple/killing ability and boatload of ammo to spray...on top of that the plane retains almost full control at high speeds. The n1k doesnt have a "sluggish" control , its either full control of roll and elevator or instant compression lock (at 450ish mph).
The only con this plane has is its top speed, which is just a dozen mph slower than some of the fastest nonperked plane. A N1k at 300mph chasing a 350mph P51 on a dive will see the n1k staying inside d1.1 for about 5 seconds before the P51's superior dive gainst its higher top speed before the n1k... but not even a P-51 can outrun 200+ 20mm rounds being sprayed in its direction.
Combine all the above magical features and you get a ride that rewards a flying style of cannon spraying, 80mph 6g turning with no stalls, point-and-shoot QUAKEACM akin to Wing Commander (do n1k pilots have blue hair?).
Therefore it is no wonder that the diehard n1k pilots that commonly land 4 kills per sortie, cant do ZILCH in any other plane, including the other "powerplanes" like spitIX and La7.
A poor pilot in a n1k is the equivalent of a competent pilot in any other plane.
