On a lighter note, you might also ask him what the most commonly sought-after item was back at the base (I'm guessing DVDs and magazines) and what recreational opportunities were available.
You might also ask him about sortie rates (twice a day?) and flight time per sortie (2 hours, I think?) and what the biggest threat was to the aircraft (I'm guessing radar-guided artillery rather than SAM systems).
