I've also posted this in the Internet connectivity section, but maybe someone here can help
I'm trying to open a Verizon DSL account, but I keep getting an error 630 message (hardware error) when I try to connect.
I've been on the phone for hours with Verizon tech support to no avail, so a new modem is on the way.
Meanwhile, I was playing around with it again this morning (picking at the scab, sort of). And found that when I hit the DSL connect button, my phone modem (which connects through Verizon Online) starts to dial up, leading me to believe that the DSL connect is somehow bypassing the new DSL modem and trying to connect through the old dial-up connection.
Is there anyway to reroute the program so it heads to the DSL modem, which is connected to my machine through an ethernet port?
I figure its a matter of setting up preferences or default or something like that. But I've gone to control panel and poked around, but can't find anything there.
