Back to the Saitek
« on: May 23, 2003, 06:03:09 PM »
The pot in the throttle of my Cougar has failed, and the X-axis pot in the stick isn't too hot, so I decided to hook up my old Saitek X36 USB. What a difference! The Saitek is cr*p in comparison. The stick is floppy, the buttons are wimpy, the hats aren't as well positioned on the stick, and the back hat on the throttle lacks definition in comparison to the Cougar. The driver purports to support the two wheels on the throttle but does not - not that I use them anyway.

It's a pity I can't seperate the Saitek throttle and use it with my Saitek Cyborg 3D USB

The Cougar stick has been criticised for a smidge of centre play; well, the Saitek has it too. I'm not worried on either count.

The Cougar HOTAS costs vastly more than the Saitek, but boy does it show that it's worth it.

Thrustmaster/Guillemot/Atari are sending me replacement pots but I think I might invest in the Hall Effect sensor mod for my Cougar.

You can, just hook both your cyborg and x36 up then put the x36 stick under the table and use the cyborg

I used to do that with my psare stuff when I had to ship my saitek hotas back for the replacement coupon - b4 i discovered CompUSA's in store replacement for $10
