I htink outlook express looks to IE for its connection

open your browser, look at Tools/Internet Options/Connections

make sure "never dial a connection" is checked

you should see a broad band connection in there

my lan settings are set to auto

Skipped trying the Host/Client route and just bought a router. No problems now. :D

Ripsnort did you rerun the internet connection wizard? Tell it to connect via lan instead of modem? Cause that what it sounds like.

Least thats what it would be on 98se.

3 NIC cards with a crossover?  You mean 2 NICs in one computer and 1 in a second with a crossover between the two computers?

ummmm..... yea.....

Its just that I read through your initial post and it didn't mention that rip.  that would have been kinda helpfull.

But... you went out and spent money on something that your PC could have easily handled.  more power to you.
