I haven't been an alterboy for some years now and I seriously doubt there are many alterboys playing this sim. This sim is killing and death and should not be exposed to children in the first place, do we take children to bars or strip joints ? No we don't , do we let them watch pornos or R rated movies ? hopefully not , I personally object to foul mouths but have used a few choice words myself , as many if not all of us have. We the players of this sim are human and being so are exposed to our and others faults ,  thats life as an adult in this world and this is a worldwide sim. It doesn't take a village or online community to raise a child ...it only takes responsible parents. I guarantee everyone your child will be exposed to much worse the first day of school than some "choice" words on the internet.

Are you serious?  This sim isnt killing and death.  "Killing and death" is brutal, ugly, messy and final.  I have had to look into the eye of someone dieing a traumatic death.  When you have seen that fear, pain and desperation, you will not make the mistake of confusing this again.  This isnt even close. This is a game.  The worst thing that happens to anyone here is they get a big butt from sitting at a computer for too long.

For all this "armchair warrior" illusion,  we shouldnt have to tell our children they cant be in the room when we play a game.  We shouldnt be embarrassed by the players who cannot act in a mature fashion, not in front of our children, in front of our familys or friends.

Its really is a very small percentage of players, very small, who seem to think their manliness is demonstrated by the use of vulgar language.  I do not find the request of avoiding the use of just a couple particular swear words to be a great burden to bear.  

What really dissapoints me is the attempt some make to justify this behavior.

This is a sim about killing  .. doh.  maybe Dago hasnt heard the term 'kill' here?

Children don't need to be exposed to 98% of the internet and this is no exception.

Death Dago? yes i've seen it before, stuff that would make you piss your pants.

This is still not a childs sim and neither is Quake , and all them other death monger sims.

This was developed for adults to appeal to the older individuals(the ones with the ability to pay money), how many children do you know that know a nick about ww2 aircraft and combat or even care about it?

Have underage children that like to fly? get them any # of the other learn to fly sims where planes dont explode or go spinning to their "deaths" in flames and smoke and that you don't have to shoot the hell outta them to "win". And get them a sim where they arent playing with 150 adult 'armchair warriors'.

If anyone thinks this is a childs learning game they're just plain ol stupid.

I wont throw stones over bad language, cause I have been guilty there. I sorta aggree that maybe we should think if this glorifies war a little to much for the kids.
But this isnt even a hangnail, what we have here is a game.
I like it when my boys hear me squeakin or hooting and come in to see what kind of dweeb I am today. In my opinion only rarly do I have to shut off the speakers on RW or have to ask the boys to leave the room. Its good for them to see how silly a person looks who loses their temper. Even if its me.

Towd you have got to be kidding.  Freedom of speech does not apply.

If I own a restaurant and a few rude patrons are offending the other patrons with their language, I can make them leave.

Bzzzt, wrong Towd.  The arenas are PRIVATE places, administered by HTC, and all players within MUST conform to whatever rules of conduct HTC imposes.  If we follow your reasoning above, I would therefore be allowed to walk into a kindergarten and spend half an hour or so berating the kiddies with foul language.  Think that kind of behaviour would get me arrested?

The right to free speech has NEVER been universal - but it often seems that those most vocal in support of their right to speak as they choose, are the ones who have not yet graduated to 5-letter words and beyond

You can say a lot of things in America but there's always restrictions whether their by law or by popular thought.

I won't repeat what I stated in the other thread...but as an example (I'll probably get kicked by HT for this but..) :  The other night was rampant with F this F that and most ppl were quite nice when asked to watch their lang.  No biggy...then some pilot (no names) started spouting on the open channel.  HT said something to him (don't remember exactly what) and then he answers HT back with a FU.

So in your eyes it was completely ok to say this to HT or anyone else and HT should not have a right or responsiblity (which ever way u look at it) to act?

Freedom of speech is great but there's a time and place for everything Towd.

The killing in this game = cartoon violence.  I see more violence per se on that Pokeman crap than here.  But to each his own.  

Why do I let my child watch and play?  Cause I'm a warbirds buff period...I've started that bug in him also by taking him to his first airshow a couple of years ago..  If he wants he can follow my military footsteps..if not...at least we have planes in common.  He's a kid...he's fascinated by what dad's doing.  He makes me laugh cause if it's say..Age of Empires on my computer he says..u playing a game...but if it's AH or Falcon 4..he says  You flying?  

Personally I'm against censoring anyone per se but I don't hesitate to ask ppl to watch their lang out of consideration for the other ppl in the room.  Even if my son's not present.

Absolutely wrong, Towd. The right to free speech covers all sorts of things but there are in fact many legal restrictions on what you can and cannot say - common sense restrictions. Yell fire in a theater and meet one face to face.

The other problem with your comment is that Aces High is not a public forum. It is a business owned by HTC. You are a paying customer. Nothing more. You have as much right to "freedom of speech" in the online arena as you do in any business.

Parade around the isles of Wal-Mart yelling obscenities and harassing other customers and see how long before you get whisked away to the police station and then a psychiatric ward.
