Video card error
« on: May 27, 2003, 09:54:30 AM »
Okay, not sure where this happened, but suddenly, my kid can't run his "Lord of the Rings"  and "Warcraft 3" games ...upon start up, he gets the error "unable to initiate 3D card, check your video card driver or DirectX update"

Well, nothing has changed...these games ran fine last week...we've tried updating the drivers, even went as far as updating DirectX (to 9).  I've tried removing the card, and reinstalling everything...funny thing is...games like IL-2 and other graphic-intensive games run fine...

Never seen that, have you checked the FAQs and such at Blizzard, etc?

Are there updates for those games, in regards to DX 9?

Do those programs have special video card settings like in Il2setup where you have to select the specific type of video card you have? It seems like the program is making a call to load up a specific video card's drivers that do not exist on your system because you don't have that video card.
