Request for variant change in F4U models
« on: May 27, 2003, 10:26:08 AM »
Since the F4U series only saw action in three years of the war and AH2 is going to a mission based arena centered on historic conflicts I am requesting that 3 F4U types be used to reflect on those years.

1. 1943 F4U-1= No water injection or spoiler strip to reduce stall. 350MPH on the deck 395MPH at 20K. 11,700LBS with no wing tank fuel and 12,500LBS with. Would be used in all PAC senarios in 1943.

2. F4U-1A= Water injection, paddle prop, spoiler strip. Best performing F4U-1 series. No external ordinance except center line drop tank or bomb. 435MPH at 20K and 365MPH on the deck. I have the charts.

3. F4U-4 = Water, Rockets, bombs and TinyTim 11.75" Rockets. 450MPH at 20K and 377MPH at sea level.

The F4U-1C will never be used in any senario or mission by any CM. It has been completely porked and still has the best K/D behind the 262 and Tempest.

The F4U-1D is a ground pounder in AH since you can't pull all the drag off of it as you can with other JABO's. So unless the CM's start making ground attack senarios in the PAC theater I don't see much use for it.

CMS wont be doing missions in AH2:ToD. Missions will be host generated. The reason F4us arent included as often in CT set ups or in events is because the lack of Japaneese planes of the same time frame.

I dont know if you looked into the CT forum and seen a pick of Kanttori's Okinawa map but this map was done for a scenario. Even though their were only 200 or chogs I bet the side Cos come up with a way to include the chog (with limited numbers ofcourse).

Saying that the CMs will never use a chog is a bit unfair. I doudt we will ever see the ta152 included but i dont think thats a bias its just the way it is.

I bet in the okinawa event you will many variants of f4us battling niks and ki-61s as well as pounding the beaches so the marines can move a shore.

Instead of redoing the f4s how about ht just get more IJA and IJN planes in the game so those f4s have something to kill. :)

Batz,

It may be unfair for me to say but up until this time it is true.

How many Euro senarios have been run and how many PAC senarios have been run? And of those how many have included the F4U?

It keeps me from going in there as I'm sure it does many other PAC fans.

If changing a varient or adding an early war F4U-1 or Betty, Grace, KI-44 etc helps then maybe HTC can do that instead.

Because I will loose interest in the BOB done for the 1 million time in a hurry.

There have been 2 earyt war pac scenarios.

Midway and Guadalcanal. Both featuring the a6m2 vrs the F4F. Why is that? Because this is the time frame where we have (just about) the correct plane matchups.

The other scenarios we have done were

Afrika Korp. We could get  reasonable plane matchups

Hostile Shores. f4us F6fs TBMs vrs LW.  We could get  reasonable plane matchups.

Big Week. We could get a reasonable plane matchups

Battle of Britain. We could get  reasonable plane matchups.

Midway. We could get  reasonable plane matchups.

Niemen. We could get  reasonable plane matchups.

Guadalcanal. We could get a reasonable plane matchups.

Not to mention the need for scenario maps.

In ToD/ squad ops there have been many pac setups. To many to list.

The ct has run many early pac setups recently but has in the past run many a late war  pac setup. Just last week was late war pac with f4us. They even ran JAP vrs VVS vrs USN using all late warbirds.

Ofcourse theres more ETO stuff done thats just because there is a more full plane set.

You wont find to many folks who will wanna fly a6m2s vrs an F4U-1.

I would be for everything you suggested but the thing that will open the doors to more mid to late pac stuff is more IJN planes.

Just think of the p38 pilots. They cant hardly participate at all in events because they have just 1 late war variant. Even jug pliots get shafted at times. We need a C variant jug.

Then theres the poor spit pilot.

The poor pony pilots with no mkIs or a36s.

What about the bomber guys no b24s b25s etc.

Then theres the p39.

Dont get me started on a late war g6 :)

Theres a lot of stuff that needs to be hashed out but atleast we have this bit of good news to hold on too.

Q: Flight models I am sure will also receive some changes for the new game. What plans do you envision concerning flight model fidelity and accuracy? Will individual controls and complex engine management be increased in the new version?

We’re looking to squeeze more subtleties out of the flight engine by increasing the amount of calculations and placements of the various forces that are acting on the plane. We also want to take this opportunity to revise or even completely redo some of the existing plane characteristics that we’re not satisfied with. From an internal standpoint, we also want to make modifications to the engine to facilitate the speed and accuracy of producing new aircraft.

If HT can do it all at once evryone would be happy.
