It's hard to track all enemy planes around you when in a furball. Add to that it's really hard to judge another planes speed to your own. It's not how fast your going, but your speed "compared" to the enemy around you. Add to that your missing people in your views if they're "coming out of nowhere". Try flying the edge instead of the middle of it.
