Body shop work..questions?!?
« on: May 28, 2003, 03:22:39 PM »
I pulled a dummy move and scrached my car while taking the hardtop off!?!? Since I did a real number on it I will be taking it in for a repaint.

I'm thinking about having racing stripes done. For those who do this for a living I think HBlair or Laz.  How much would something like this normally run? The car is white base coat/ clear over coat. I'm looking at black no fancy color or design.

Uh oh... racing stripes?  Do any "racing" do ya?  :D

Spend the money on performance upgrades and you can leave "racing stripes" on the pavement behind you.

I'm a quarter of the way there Saurd.

At the moment I've done few modifications.. 14"wheels from a 99 matched with a set of Kumo VictorRacers 700, Intake & Exhaust, and a semi-agressive alignment for autocrossing.

I'm still debating on suspension upgrades..leaning towards Koni shocks and racingbeat springs and sways.

But, see at the moment this is my daily driver. So I need it some what street driveable. My street tires are 205-45-16 Toyo T1-S. Which are nice..but even the alignment makes the car act up on rough roads.

And 2 years from now it will be Eaton suppercharged! :D

Saur shouldn't you be polishing your chest medallions and getting your Members Only jacket dry cleaned?

I've been putting racing stripes on parked Porsches for years.  Pale yellow.  I'm getting pretty good at making the lines straight too.

1.) Fast
2.) Reliable
3.) Inexpensive
Pick two.

Yeah, roger THAT, Mercedes Benz is soooo over-rated.  I should know, I managed an exclusive MB repair shop for 6 years.

Funked, I dont expect you to understand the obsession, so Ill just nod my head, smile, and comment on how your boxer engine is missing two cylinders.  :D

Silly ricers, they'll never understand.

I hate ricers..and their annoying lawn-mower sounding cars..

Saurd mines a 02 Mazda Miata. Which I think for the fun of Autocrossing is the best car out there besides say the far lighter MR2 Spyder.

Ah, most definately.  I have an aweful lot of respect for the Miata (especially the more HiPo models).  I actually know alot of PCA F stock 944 NA guys that switched to Miatas because they were just as capable and far less of a maint headache.

How much boost will you be running with you slap on your blower?

I'll be looking at 6-8 psi. Which will put the car around the 180- 200hp mark at the rear wheels.

There are some guys that are running turbo's with 15 psi on stock internals and pumping out under 300 hp. But these cars are so light anything really over 200 hp your gonna have crap for traction.
