Men you can backup on CV. F4u backs up when u hit 2200rpms f6f 2100rpms. this makes taking off easier.

Hitting HQ only thing that matters to kill dar is big white building. for every 4500lbs u hit white building with u get 1 dar. 18000 lb to get all 4 dars.

Noe  means flying under 500ft

when in hanger make sure u have right guns for your plane. like la7 default is 2 guns but 3 guns better I think. same for alot of planes. Don't assume its best at default.

Ammo doesn't go that far shooting at 1k out is wasteing ammo. Bombers tho can hit from 2k away but not that well.

to learn to bomb or sink cv's without suicide. Go to help on these boards seach for Rod367th  "my bombing lesson" it will explain how to bomb towns so in 2 passes u can kill entire town.

To shell base or towns with crusier guns. 1 get in front gun if possible but any big gun will do. 2. bring up map zoom in on town u want to hit left click on center of yellow square. 3. close map and hit W to go in land mode this will keep guns on target all you do is pull trigger. I aim for center first then I click on each corner untill city dead.

You really shouldn't up CV's untill city is being shelled or atleast not until cv is right at base or if u have help. Taking off cv when its 30miles away from a base is same as sayingon open channel " hey our cv is here come kill it"

please don't just type a players name to join you should always ask first. If you send request with out asking you could kill teammate, as message blocks entire screen. Be kind to others and they will do same.

last there is no such thing as a DWEEB plane. Fly what you think is best for you. BUT remember only shoot red guys or you will die.......................... ............................. .......

and if you want help in arena  ask, you will get 15 hit alt f4
but ignore these people in future.(alt f4 removes u from game) Give time and someone will always help or try to help, you just have to remember we maybe in air and in fight.

LAST This is a game JUST HAVE FUN............And never fall for please pick up soap game when shane trys it........................... ..........
:)

P.S if you want to learn fast go to DA with shane. He will help u learn fast...................   people you can trust Akcurly,Furball, dadrabit,Ghosth, urbmaw, psrugby, Shane ( he will be blunt but honest), Whels, Cooly, HTTP, bluedeth, overbkil, and there are alot more but these men come to mind when I think back to those who try to help new people.

Spend a couple of weeks mapping your stick and keyboard, setting views for max visibility, choosing yr gunsight, learning how to track a target without padlock and tweak yr stick till it's perfect...

no need to do major futzing with stick mapping or views...  simply ask someone who has a comparable stick for the necessary files.

i used to post stick, mapping and views until they stopped supporting attachments here.

tip for noobs:   be aggressive, learn the plane's envelopes, you don't really die and you'll learn that much faster.

tip for tween noob/vets:  if you want to improve your SA and dogfighting, look for smaller actions on the fringes. head behind the front line bases and interdict baddies inbound. go yourself or at most with 1 or 2 wingies. you get a lot of small actions this way and you help the base under attack gain breathing room, or get captured depending whether it's being defended or attacked.

Surrounded by suck and underwhelmed with mediocrity.
I'm always right, it just takes some poepl longer to come to that realization than others.

1> If you lose half a wing on the fw190s trim your rudder and ailerons to the opersite side of the broken wing and keep the aircraft fast.

when it comes to landing try this method: As you slow down the fw190 becomes unstable but if you stay above 200 mph it flies quite easily if  little twitchy. When you come in to land try to get your speed to exactly 200 mph just as you are about to touch down.As soon as you do get to 200mph hit the landing gear and let it almost lands itself(as long as you are almost on the ground as you press g).It will groan and creek but it wont break your gear off.You also have to be generous with your rudder to help keep level as you drop the last few feet.Dont be too worried about hitting the runway. If you land on grass or look like your going to miss the tarmac just use the brake as usual to slow down before taxying back to the runway strip.

2> when in the rear gunner position on any bomber try holding full rudder to one side as you shoot at the enemy. this makes your bomber perform a rather awkward turn but it is also more difficult for the attacking fighter to hit.You then need to learn the new angle you have to shoot to lead shoot an attacking fighter whilst you turn. Its a little tricker but you will soon get used to it if you practice a little(basically if you slew one way you have to throw your shots out the other direction to compensate). When you get good at it you will find you can weave from full left rudder to full right and still shoot accurately. You wait till you see those fighters on your 6oc struggling to get a bead on you while you plaster them in hot lead :)
Btw make sure only to fire at full rudder deflection either right or left at first as this will get you used to the angles you need.If you only half heartedly use rudder the position to lead the shots will be very hard to learn. Also practice all the positions ;)

3> JOIN a SQUAD! the game can really come to life when you start to fly in groups and work together.Starting a squad or joining one is the best way to get this cooperation.Find one which plays the game your way though. Some like rules others dont :)

Heres one that has saved me time.

Back up your settings and sightes directories. Burn them to disc or move to another drive. Incase you need to format next time you install, simple copy over with your saved directories and you save alot of time not having to re-map or setup sights again.

Do the same with your sounds dir if you have room or a cdrom burner.

Always approach planes at an angle, then try to turn into the plane where you estimate he will be... lead turn. It takes practice to get timing right.

Avoid face shots (head ons) by doing a maneuver just as you approach gun range (under 1000 yd.). Maneuvers include sissors (swerving to the sides) and barrel roll (roll plane with ailerons while pulling back on stick... corkscrew type motion).

Another head on move is to push forward on stick to drop nose. Other plane must drop nose faster to get a lead shot on you and will red out. If lucky, you may be able to pull up at last second to get belly shot as he passes over.

There are a lot of maneuvers to use while dogfighting, these must be learned. I post  the headon advice onlt because it's such a cheap way to get a kill. Don't take head on shots when you first encounter a plane. It ruins the fun and is just as likely to get you killed as the other guy.

In a flak panzer, zoom the gun sight and place your mouse pointer on the aim point. Then you can use page up to get a better view and aim with your mouse pointer.

When driving a Flak Panzer or Panzer tank use page up to raise your head above the hatch for a better view.

When shelling from a ship (big guns on cruiser), use the following commands:

W for land mode - aims at where you click on map.

E for sea mode - holds gun at azimuth and elevation relative to the ship position.

Q to turn land and sea mode off

F8 to toggle pan view and use arrow keys on number keypad to pan your view.

Examples:

Click on map where you wish to hit (such as city or place on field), press W, and fire gun.

To sweep gun fire across a base, picture path of ship cutting through the base. Click on where path approaches base. Press W to aim at this point. Then press E to hold gun in that position. Start firing gun repeatedly and you will hit base along line described by the path of the ship. Leave mouse at position clicked on and it will move along this path. When mouse pointer reaches other side of base, press W again and repeat.

To hit objects on base, click on base and use W to aim. Then press F8 to turn on pan view. Press the 8 key on number pad to lower line of sight to see base. Zoom in on base to see objects there. Fire and wait to see where your shot lands. Adjust your aim point with stick to move hit point to target. The 8, 4, 6 and 2 keys on number pad will move line of sight without affecting aim point.

When controlling a ship, never sail it directly at or away from the target (base or another ship). Always approach or depart at an angle. This will allow all your guns to aim at target, and make you harder to hit since they must keep chaging both azimuth and elevation.

Don't use PT boats next to a ship to protect it. The ships flack guns can hit much better than yours and your boat will activate the proximity fuses of the ship guns (the shells fire when close to a metal object... a plane or your boat).

When you see a Knight Spitfire defending a base you're attacking, fly slow and level past him  >=o)

Bombing 101 how to calibrate
Step by step if this doesn't work for u see me in arena.
based on using default keys U Y.

1. Fly formation bombers more bang for the buck.
For cities flying below 20k I use 500's
For hangers 1000's
For Hq 1000's
For Cv's lanc's 2000's or b17's 1000's
Some of you say you lose drones for no reason, to keep from losing drones untill your in level flight only use 45% maifold (don't use full speed until level and on course to target)

2. As Soon as your bomber leaves field and u set auto climb, Set bomb alt of target. This done by hitting F6 (bombsite) then esc to bring up map then hit U then left click with mouse on target, Then press U to turn off Calibration. In the left hand top corner u should see red letters with alt in text. Now if bombing city make sure u click on city not field, As some cities higher and lower than airfields. The reason for setting bombalt for target now, is its one less thing U have to do over enemy base or HQ.

3. when you get to about 4 to 5 miles out target line bomber up by using map. (his will get you close) once you are on line to target Put bomber in slight dive to 205mph B17 230mph lanc's if below 20k if above 25k its 175mph for 17's and 195 for lanc's. Then level off for about 30 sec's. Now your ready to calibrate.

4. Calibration hit F6 then U find a target on ground your Crosshairs r going to pass over. ( one you can see easy, You can zoom in if needed doesn't need to be target your hitting CAN be anything on ground or even a wave) when Crosshairs get over spot press Y holding Y down and using slight adjustments with JS keep Crosshairs on same spot count to 10 to 30 secs ( you can do this in 5 secs if in hurry but recommend 20 or 30)while holding Y down. Let go of y gently let go JS and press U. Congradulations you r calibrated

5. You can move plane anytime as long as you level off at calibration speed. you can make small adjustments for linning up target, If in doubt or you get Moving to rapidly message then recalibrate. there is no need to recalibrate on flipping back to base as long as you get to calibration speed. If not under attack recalibrate if you want to be safe. Secret is Speed speed speed. once you calibrate chk what speed your flying at.

6. To turn bombers fast without losing them  Your turn should be all done with rudders. once you turn Dive a little to get bomber back to level calibration speed.

7. Imagine city with Vertical & horz lines 0 1/4 1/2 3/4 1.0. This cuts city into 1/4's.

make first pass on 1/4 line droppping 1 500 on o line, 1/4 line 3/4 line and on 1. line (remember in formation your dropping really 3 500's each line) this can be done with just 3 bombs instead of 4 by hitting 0 1/2 1 line. but 4 is easier ( bombing with 1000's hit o line half line and 1 line.)

second pass you fly over 3/4 line drop bombs on same lines 0 line 1/4 line 1/2 line and 1.0 line.

This will kill city in 2 passes with bombs left over for GV hanger or ? ( or incase you miss ) We all miss sometimes but usally its 1 building at most.

For HQ bombing calibration is same but use 1000's or larger as they are not effected as much by winds. always come to HQ from east to west if u can if coming from south or north make sure you drop bombs as bombite is on middle HQ). Drop 6 1000's on white HQ building) If in text bar U see 2 gun implacements and object destoryed congrats you killed radar. I like b17's for hitting HQ best defense is b17's, And have killed entire HQ twice with b17's but mostly only get 3 dars down.

For Cv's I use b17's 6 1000' salvo of 2. I line up on cv at 8 k alt Calibrate bombsite as above (except no target alt). I lead CV by 1 full length of carrier from front of cv. I drop all 6 1000's With the salvo of 2 it puts pattern out there that turning cv can still be sunk. I've only ran into 1 great cv driver asked his name but wouldn't tell me. when that happens u may need to hit it twice.

Remember with this system what ever ur xhair is on when u drop is what bombs hit. no need to guess or drop ahead xhair.

Anyone is welcome to come as my gunner and I'll walk you thru my steps on vox. I don't care if your Rook Bishop or Knight all are welcome.

MWaydo Thank you for teaching me how to bomb. Not sure if he's still here but he taught me to bomb cities, Which inturn I've taught others alot with great sucess but some avg....

p.s. fight 163's differant than regular planes. Start shooting 163.s from 1.5 works best for us 50 163's killed and counting  And if U see mitsu upping a rocket BAIL BAIL BAIL
