There's also Love Hurts by Nazareth, maybe the original rock power ballad, Still Loving You by the Scorpions, Bringing on the Heartache by Def Leppard - wow, so many hair bands to choose from!

I kind of like Heaven Can Wait by Meat Loaf

Best rock ballad for me is "Still Loving You" by the Scorpions... Talk about a singer with a powerful voice... Klaus Meine is incredible.

"Winds of Change" by the Scorpions being a close second. Anyone who has seen the video and keeps a dry eye has no heart.

Funny I'm somewhat of a metal head, but I have to admit, I love Gordon Lightfoot. Wreck of the Edmond Fitzgerald is one of those songs that raises the hair on the back of your neck. It's haunting...

Hate to admit it, but I agree with MT... Goin to California is the best Led Zeppelin song

Sorry,  best ballad maybe, but "Ramble On" gets my vote as best song by LZ.

This one isnt the best, but I always liked "High Enough" by the Damn Yankees.

What exactly qualifies a song as a ballad?

One of the best

Holiday  -  Scorpions

starts slow, quietly, then rips it out, then ends quietly

Played it to death from 1979 to 1980 when the tape finally got ate up.   Then got the album, and finally the cd
