I use a ATI 9700Pro AIW  and EZCD DVD Creator 6.  No problems for straight up transfer, a dash of Adobe Premier and they are almost good enough to get the kids to sit down and watch  ;)

Pick up Dazzle Creator 150.

It has an external USB 2.0 based module which contains the MPEG encoder/decoder.

However, the MoveStar 5 software does a pathetic job of encoding to MPEG2, as it uses the Microsoft MPEG2 CODEC.

Basically, you won't be able to really edit the captured footage with the software they provide.

But, the DVD Complete package is pretty nice and does an good job of creating the DVD.  I am going through moving all my laser discs to DVD using this tool and the quality of the transfers is as good as the original.

Also, as the input data is already MPEG2 encoded, it takes up significantly less hard disk space (about 4GB for every 2 hours of video footage).

If I use the Dazzle board to input it, and if the packaged software isn't any good, what software would you suggest I buy to edit it?

Adobe Premier is about as good as it gets for consumer products and it can handle the MPEG2 files from the Dazzle 150.

However, Premier cannot capture the Dazzle 150, so you would use MovieStar 5 for the capture, and edit the MPEG2 files with Premier.

The only thing bad about Dazzles software is the editing portion of MovieStar 5.  All the other apps are pretty complete and work well.

The best thing about the Dazzle 150 is it can handle virtually any input, except 1394 firewire.
