I hated peas when i was a kid too.

As an ault I discovered that my mom was ...well... challenged in the pea cooking department.

Now as a full blooded Italian lady she did a wicked tomato sauce and killer sausage and pasta ... but her peas sucked!

One of the happiest moments of my life is when I found out that Marie Callender's chicken pot pies were microwavable!  No more waiting 45 minutes for that flakey goodness.  They could be ready in 12!!!  Of course I still hate the carrots.  So I eat those first.  And the pieces of chicken.  They just get in the way of the crust and gravy.  So I get the carrots and chicken eaten first and then I'm in heaven!

Celery is good only in potato salad or by itself if it is slathered in peanut butter.

The real purpose of pot pies is to make a delicious flakey crust hold a bunch of delcious gravy.  All the rest is just filler!

I disect the peas and give them to wife.  I east carrots first, then potatoes.  That usually leave a few chunks of wimpy celery which I kind of ignore and then go for the beef, and that leave the gravy and crust.

Man, I am starving now!!!!!

My parents decided to disassemble the old dinett set and replace it with something more modern.  That is when they discovered that I had used the leg closest to my usual seat as a pea depository.  8 years worth of dinner peas had been stockpiled in that leg.  It was literally full.

I hate peas.  I have always hated peas.  I will always hate peas.

And black-eyed peas with bacon is good, too.  Makes a good side for turkey, mashed potatoes, and turkey juice gravy with biscuits and/or cornbread.  You guys don't know what you're missing.

Then its perpetual-motion with the boiled peanuts while watching football or auto racing.

I've found the peas to be consumeable, except only in England, where they have the radioactive like colour, and the taste of plaster.

That said, i would kill for some horse radish right now :)

I eat my peas with honey,
I've done it all my life.
They taste kinda funny,
But, at least, they stick to my knife.

Fish, chips and mushy peas and a can of shandy - used to have that once a week as a kid. :)

Syz - exactly. You have to smother celery in something else just to dissipate the taste. Alot of people eat it with just salt though.

LOl I forgot about salt.  Yeah, I eat it with salt but my kids hate it with salt.

Salt is good, though.  It's also good on margerita's and popcorn!

Say, what's a can of shanky????:D
