Kill Scoring

  Just 2 quick questions

1. Why do u get a kill if an emeny crashes on purpose next to you?

2.  If u light up a 190 that's coming right towads u in your b26, he is a fireball, and hits you, why does he get the kill?  How does the game decide, does it just give it to whoever it feels like?

Just a little confused onthe scorings.  Thanks

Note: The scoring system is totaly FUBARed at the moment, I simply don't pay attention to it and I have alot more fun.

Heh... I didn't "crash on purpose next to you". What would that get me? It was an HO... We both opened up, we both died. I got the kill. The scoring is off kilter in that regard...I completely agree... but it's the same scoring system we've been with since about this time last year.

If you *really* sit down and try to come up with a solution to this... I mean really think through it and all the variables, you'll see that it's a huge can of worms. Give me yer best solution, and I swear to God I'll be able to poke holes in it.

Yer best bet is to consider these situations a win some, lose some... and get on with it.

Heh, I don't think the score system is FUBAR'ed. Sure, it is flawed in certain ways, but *overall*, kills are awarded justly. Maybe 1 out of 20 of my kills aren't "mine".

Aye, is irritating when someone is awarded kill when ack kills ya. Or when you blast wing off Sputnickfire and someone else hoses him as he goes down and gets the kill. But overall, it does what it is inteded to; it allows you to see your overal performance statistics.

Of course, it says nothing about vulch kills (torque, I wanted to kill you in my M16 - then I shot wing off, but got no kill or assist message? <S!> for yer persistence  ) or deadly 1 vs many furballs.

So, it has something to say, but is far from a final answer.

Even if kills were awarded perfectly, the issue about vulch vs 1 vs many would still be there. So stats tell us only so much. Point in case:

This tour in A8 so far:
stsanta has 19 kills and has been killed 2 times in the Fw 190A-8.

and G10:
stsanta has 57 kills and has been killed 14 times in the Bf 109G-10.

Now, I feel safer in the G10. But I've flown the A8 mainly in jabo roles (as my gun percentage testifies  ) and have generally had either cap or bugged out after performing my duties. In the G10, I've gone into many vs poor me more than a few times.

So in conclusion I think scoring is adequate for the purpose, if not perfect, but one has to take many things into consideration and not use it as a "I am better than you" stick.

I do wish they would get rid of those proximity kills . Just because somebody dies doesn't mean someone should get the kill . C47's getting kills is pretty weak .

However, for proximity kills some are deserved.

When ur fighting on the deck doing scissors,
with the guy behind trying to keep up -- but not watching his speed or alt, and plows into the ground, well, i personally  want the manuever kill :-)

Not to say i get many of those, mostly i just give them away

My experience is that whoever lasts the longest gets the kill. If planes collide, it is the last man to bail or die that gets it.

Depending on how soon after the kill is awarded you bail, the other guy might get a kill awarded. May depend on if he is still in silk or not  - not sure.

Well... ya.  I got 2 kills today which were completly bogus.

@ 190's where chasing my b17 for miles, I piged them amny times but no visible damage.. one of them bugged out to RTB or somtin, and the other kept follwoing. I ran outta ammo, and when he came up my rear I did a loop, and he slammed to the ground

Then, Stex comes behind me and rams me, I blow up he wals away un scathed..... Collison need to be 2 sided, not 1.
