New Hubble Deep Space View
« on: June 06, 2003, 01:54:14 PM »
Hey guys, I already posted this picture in another thread, but thought some of you might appreciate it who weren't involved in the thread.

The field of view in this picture is only about a quarter of an inch of the sky, and each object you see in the image except for one is an entire galaxy, not a star. Even the little dots in the image contain about 300 billion stars each. Amazing...

The center of the Milky Way is a super massive black hole that isn't feeding right now... the bright light is probably the event horizon of the black hole.

Are these images in the visual spectrum or are they coloured regions (like painting by numbers)?

And those twinkly stars, hmm; is someone taking some artistic licence here? It's all a bit 'airbrush'

Grun, you sure this isn't some scan from one of your new age posters with the unicorn edited out?
