Something has to be done about Citabria...
« Reply #15 on: August 06, 2000, 02:14:00 PM »

i will say this now and always, i cannot defeat this pilot. my only recourse is to stay away from his guns, which i do. i will not go into defense mode and make counter points about what cita states in his post about the encounter as it is a mute point.

but i will say that i am not 'rattled', i find it quite incredulous that such a gifted pilot complains about person(s) who wish NOT to be shot down by him...

Where were you last night? Ramrod included Spit9s, Tiffies and B26s vs. 190s and 109s in the SEA.

No P-38 for Citabria. He was just as vulnerable as any in the German Iron

You relatively new guys have the wrong attitude IMHO

When i first started playing, my nemesis was torque. I made it my mission to kill him, but i sucked and he was real good. So i went back and kept getting killed by him. But then eventually, i figured out from getting killed how to do the killing. Thats what u should do.

LOL Cit is a good stick and tries like we all do to "have the advantage" nothing wrong with that.  He has good SA but he can be killed like we all can, this game lends itself to good SA and Cit is a master so don't cry just try to learn, I do and I suck but I am trying to learn always (sometimes I get really really pissed at myself LOL )

Who could forgets Cit's infamous bomb drop on the spawn point...followed by Pyro's ballad.  Ah,  good times.  I should fly online sometime.  Hehehe.

I'm incredulous that you don't want to improve your technique. You should be elated at the chance of practicing scissors and such against a good player. Not bail! At least try!

It doesn't matter that you will never be able to best in combat such a player. There will always be someone better than you. But with enough encounters with good pilots, you're bound to improve your technique against more average players.

Who cares if Citabria shoots you down ?

Lots of people shoot me down and I don't care.
I try to fly planes I love and if they suck compared to the "superior" aircraft then I'll die a lot.
But I learn a lot too.
Many times I die just looking at the 6 view, watching my attacker and trying to learn.
But I am learning and getting better all the time.
If I bailed when I was defintely gonna die, then all I would learn is how to bail.
(or Alt F4 if I was a real idiot)

Think of it like a VERY FUN version of school or life......
a wise quote I read is:
"If you give up when things get bad then you will be a loser your whole life. Learn from those who are better than you and only then will you have a chance to beat them at their own game."

The score means nothing.

I can't even conceive of what would make you turn tail and run away from a fight with someone better than you. Get a grip my friend, all this is is a bunch of colored electrons traveling around the world. You won't really die, i promise! I Beg for the opportunity to "fight" against better pilots. I challenged RAM on the dueling ladder yesterday. Why? you ask, you have no chance!, maybe, but I KNOW i can learn from him. I KNOW i can get better from watching how he reacts to what i do. I can apply what i learn, and become better, (god knows i need to!) For you to say Citabria is unbeatable is incredulous as well, because although he is an Excellent pilot, even he can be caught unaware. I got a lucky kill on him last night, I say lucky, because i was lucky to be in the right position and him in a bad one. I asked him if he didn't see me over channel 1, and his reply was: "No, i saw ya, there just wasn't anything i could do!" <S> Cit, and all the other pilots that have shot me outta the sky, thanks to you for giving me the chance to learn from you. Take a lesson SG, the Score means nothing to 90 % of the AH community. And while it is nice to be able to go look up your score and see single or double digits in overall rank, no one really cares about it, and it sure means nothing when pilots who can fly circles around you on thier worst day have lower scores than you. At least they are out having Fun at this Game, and realize that there is more to it than just a "score"

My $.02

General Patton would slap anyone who would bail rather than be killed. Anyone who does this is definitely gaming the game. I take pride in getting shot down by the best.

The only thing I can think of that this is like the pot calling the kettle black!
True, Citabria maintains his advantage, picks his fights, and maybe gets frustrated when people extend ("run" in Sg language).  Heck, all of us do that to some extent.
Talking of him complaining about someone extending, Sg, you did the same thing just the other nite......."Come on you phucking rook 47, come and fight me" when you had at least a 5K alt advantage on  me.......then when I extended far enough to attempt a reverse, and eventually killed ya, you whined about me not engaging you when you had the CLEAR advantage.
Was I "chicken" to not turn and fight in a totally disadvantageous situation?  Maybe so, but who cares?
Sg, you complain about pilots not engaging you 1-on-1, but you are the first to come in and shoot a guy in the back when he is locked in battle, and doesn't see you.  Get a grip, you are gonna die, you are not always gonna like the way others are flying, and not everyone is gonna fly the sim the way YOU want them to.  Such is life, or in this case, "virtual life".
Two days ago, you ran from me when you were already at a 6K alt advantage, choosing only to engage me when I was butting heads with a 205, THEN, there you were in your Spit, closing in for what you thought would be a kill........
I die alot, at the hands of almost everyone in the arena, and that is okay.  I am slowly learning the nuances of how to win a fight begun with a E-disadvantage, and hopefully, I will be able to use that in the future.
If you only want to engage when you have a definite advantage, or numbers are on your side, you will never learn how to handle it when things turn to crap and your opponent has it all over YOU.
