New X45 Drivers
« on: June 06, 2003, 02:52:43 PM »
I recently checked the Saitek homepage and saw that they have a new driver loaded for the X45 dated 28/04/03.  Anyone tried to load it yet?

One of the things I disliked about getting the X45 was that I could not configure my views as I had them on my X36 (?). I think I used Ranger's profile which had the pinkie as a toggle and allowed you to change from level to up without going back to forward first.

I just recently (past few months) figured out a somewhat workable way to get the same effect. What I did is map the Aux. 1 switch on the throttle to just press and hold the keypad view modifier key (either up or down) at each end of the slider, leaving the center toggle unassigned. This allows for easy view toggeling between level and up/down without the forward view intermediary.

A couple of problems with the setup:
1. It would probably be better to have the unmapped position at one extreme end of the slider, for easy return to level view (this has cost me quite a few missed shot opportunities). Additionally, setting the up modifier to the opposite end of the slider would probably be the best option since it is used alot more than the down modifier, which could be placed in the center.

2. Although it doesn't affect the majority of operations, since you are effectively holding a key down, you have to remember a few things:
     a. Make sure toggle is set to the default position anytime you are not in AH, it makes for some very interesting Windows functionality.
     b. You can't switch the modifiers while using the text buffers within AH or you will spam '0' or '5'.

This is with Windows XP and Saitek Drivers V.3.2.0.11.
