A perked Pony
« on: June 06, 2003, 05:53:35 PM »
Would it be too much for AH to give us a perked Pony with the 4 20mm's. I forget the actuall ID of this configuration of the Pony but I do know it existed. I would do just about anything to see it in, perk it more than the 262 for all I care, it would be an awsome plane and a nice addition to the MA. Do any of you know the actually ID of this variant??? I cant remember for the life of me.

if the Spitfires had the correct wing's modelled here.... among the choices of MG's (.50's, .303's) you would be able to select another pair of hispano's!

imagine the whining....

I believe the  p51 with the 20mm were early P-51 Mk.IA's
I am not ashamed to confess that I am ignorant of what I do not know.

Jeffer, what would you do with a pony anyway?  Aren't you a LW pilot?

You may be somewhat disappointed to know that the Mustang fitted with 4 Hispanos was also powered by the Allison engine, rather than the Rolls Royce engine. Designated as the Mustang Mk.IA by the Brits, it lacked high altitude performance, but was relatively fast on the deck being able to touch 360 mph near sea level.

I doubt it would require perking.

LOL, i can only imagine!!! But if you take into consideratin that the NIK is by no means less deadly than the Chog, and still not perked, then why should the Chog be perked. I know im getting a bit off topic here but thats a huge gripe with me. BUT HOW COOL WOULD IT BE if we had a pony in here with 4 20's?!?!?
I cant imagine it would be too hard to modle, the air frame I almost sure was the D modle with just the 4-20s modified into the wings. Hell, Id pay an extra buck a month to have this plane in here!!!

LOL, that night we had a go when I was in that A8 was just by chance, I rarely ever fly any of the LW planes, only because, for one, in the D9 I try to BNZ but I have too much Z and not enough B!!! THat was a cool fight though steve, one of the best 1v1 I have ever had in here if not the best!!! Boy I would have been really disapointed had I been shot down while sipping my early morning coffe LOL!!!

There was a p51B with 4 hispanos. 41-37421 the second prototype.
I dont know that the allison Mustang would be so crappy here. Wasnt it deadly fast on the deck?

wasn't it the  A-36 Apache, 4 20mm , designed for ground attach, looks like P-51B.
