Dowding, we don't even violate their own EULA.

I hope you see that we tried to help them and offered our resources including channels, servers and free labour. They started a campaign of lies and false accusations in return :(

The whole thing was developed as a server for "Russians only". Even some new dot commands are in Russian. But HS, Littman and other "Albanians" literally started advertizing our work on AGW, just as if they needed us to blame for their failures :(

Anyway, we didn't steal anything. We just did our job, and did it better then people who had all the source code at hand.

Did you think why there is no "freehost" for AH or even WB3?...

BTW, we could put up a server for WB3 even before iEN started it's own (there was a week between the FE release and the start of first WB3 arena).

Now we run a big legal project, and our existance is a FACT, that is impossible to ignore.

Did you guys write your own FE for that Baroda?  For any of them?

Its always amazing when theives sit around trying to justify or add some kind of nobility to their actions.

You're a theif.  And we're not talking Robin Hood here.

I seem to recall a rather interesting dialog between HiTech and the, ummm, the "polite" users of stolen WB's software on the FreeHost newsgroup.    Is HiTech also an "Albanian"??  HiTech wasn't too thrilled with you all, as i remember it.   But he was polite while many of the Freehost "players" were anything but.

In fact, i bet this thread gets locked before too long because it includes mention of stolen software.  HT's software.  But it doesn't matter anymore, i look at Freehost as a Welfare Program using now-dated software which is inferior to IL-2, WBIII, and Aces High.

Nonetheless, what really PO'd me about Freehost was that many involved in stealing WB's flew hacked planes in the WB's Arenas before finally just ripping-off the FE altogether.  In other words, they CHEATED.  Which makes those people LOSERS in my book.  It's because of cheating/hackers like those people i avoid playing IL-2 online like the plague.

You all enjoy your "copy" of WB's, i'm glad i live in a country where such shenanigans as software piracy are  illegal and where cheaters/hackers are actively hunted-down and permanently banned from play when caught........

The FE is given for free, so it's impossible to steal it. They didn't include a single line about "authorized servers" like HTC does into EULA, while they were aware of our existance for 3 releases (Aike sent them bug reports in networking protocol).

IMHO they needed us. I can't find other reasonable explainations. Instead of talking like men they started threatening us and spreading lies. After that it's a matter of principles to keep our project going. We will never agree with retards who say they will send gangsters to stop us. You see, we tried our best to minimize harm to them, and even after they started legal actions against us we didn't advertize our host and steal their customers.

You can call me whatever you want, but it doesn't change anything. We are law-abiding citizens of Russian Federation, and we didn't violate any laws, uncluding American.

Let me rephrase that to make it clear for you Baroda...

Do you modify another company's FEs to make them work for freehost?

Yeppers... you do.

You poor pathetic little thief.

Did I miss something?

I have deepest respect to +HT+, and I don't remember any "impolitness" towards him on our part. If such things happened - i bring my sincere apologize and want to know exact callsigns to explain them the "party politics". :(

"Albanians" is a slang name for the team that took WB after MO and other original ICI/iMOL people resigned.

Do you understand the difference between AH and WB2? AH is a fast-developing sim, where developersreally care about their game and deserve all possible respect.

I am glad to inform you that our team have done several times more things to prevent cheating then HS and Jay Littman. They were good only in spying at us and banning people from Slavonic countries from their "free arenas".

"FreeHost" software is not a "copy" of WarBirds. It's only a free update, or addon, that needs original, unmodified copy of WB client.

Thank you!

We do not modify a single bit of iEN's WarBirds 2.77 client. More to say, our addon doesn't work with modified WB 2.77 client, and checks it for integrity everytime it is run and every few minutes when connected to FHR server.

I hope I have made some things clear.

LOL! Your "addon"

Once again baroda... do you modify another companie's FE?  Via an "add on"?

Sorry, but you've stolen someone else's flight model.  You've stolen someone else's game model, you've stolen someone else's communications model.

How are you not a thief again?  Nevermind that.. you are a thief.

Of course, this is all stuff you've heard many times before... so I'll just leave it with that and continue to hold you in just about as high of contempt as is possible.

PS...does comrad mean theif?  If not, I may have used the wrong word in that last sentence.

Some of the Albanians on this board might want to look up the definition of the words "theft" and "thief" before they fire off any more false accusations.

Don't be such a ***** funked (I know.. its hard in the SF area).  Say something or get the **** out.

Redirecting traffic to a server that deprives a company of revenue using that companies own resources to do it is theft funked.  Opening their code and modifying it for use on your own server is theft funked.

If you want to contend that those two things never happend, then feel free.  I await your almost a reply without actually replying answer.

What they did was not theft by any dictionary or legal definition.  So don't call it that.

In fact, it's not even clear that what they did was illegal in any way.

I think the worst that one can say is that their actions were legally questionable and morally wrong.

Calling them thieves just makes you look ignorant to anyone who has actually studied the issue.

is it not theft because it is completely free? -sort of like shareware where you can distribute software freely as long as you don't make money out of it?
I don't have the patience to read all the legal agreements in Warbirds, and all the emails between Boroda and IEN staff. Can somebody (Boroda maybe) make it clear for me why WBfree is legal?

Even I, who have called them thieves and worse, have come to see it in a different way.  I still do not think it is right, but hey, it does appear legal, and they have not touched, or even had to open any of the code.  They built a server that simply interprets the data stream from someone else's software.

That said, it isn't really worth playing, but I am glad that they are at least doing original work with it.

Once again funked... you are telling others to back it up without actually doing so yourself.

They use another companie's FE to connect to thier server.  That alone is theft.  The term "free" only applies to the price paid for the software, not the abillity to use it any way you see fit.

Oh.. wait.. that's right.. its only the end users that are "borrowing" the other company's FE... not innocent people like baroda.  What was I thinking.

And Saddam offering rewards to terrorists isn't really the same as actually being a terrorist.... right?  A pawn shop owner that buys stolen goods is not necessarily a thief... right?

"You can play the game on our server if you download someone else's software and modify it using our add-on and avoid having to pay money to that company... but its not really stealing"

Thief funked.  To call it anything else is to play ignorant on just where the "inspiration" for freebirds came from.  Of course, we'll not know just exactly how legal its viewed until someone tries to pull that **** with Microsoft or another company willing to play the "villian" by actually pressing charges against thiefs like that.
