I like the Yak, I got a 3 Kill sortie in one, but got caught by a Damn Zeke low!  Ya Bastage!

It don't carry a lot of stones, but its a good plane.  I like catching Niks and 205, and the escape burst against ponies.

Don't get caught low by Spits and Zekes.

Don't get caught with an A5 above you.

Saw one cannon hog, a spit saved its life before I could get to it.

Oh Yeah, the Spit Nine seems to have it all over the Yak? Is that right, any spit I ran into was all over me, even when I tried to run.

Gatt, the Yakolev doesn't have WEP.  Hitting the WEP button won't do squat.  It isn't a bug.  It is supposed to be that way.

Neither does the Zero.

Does our Yak-9 have the Vk105 or Vk107 engine?

Hans.

Downtown,
A Yak is not as maneuverable as a Spit9, so don't try to turnfight it.  BnZ them.

Hans,
Judging from its performance, I'd say VK-107.

Thanks

Bf Yak 9U

Bavarian FlukestangleWerK?

Or whatever the BF in BF 109 is, it's not Messerschmitt.

I put that together quickly using the 109 chart as a template and mucked up the title.  You can see the speed and climb charts in the help section of our webpage.  It's in the "In the game" section.

[Typing this from the computer class in Richmond, so I haven't actually flown this version yet]

*sigh*

whelp from the performance charts that are posted, I can see that the Yak-9U got the same production/prototype issue screwing that  out La-5fn is a victim off

The Russians were the only country in the world that kept track of "production" performance testing (Russia did both types), versus the "prototype" testing that every other country did. And now every Russian plane in the game performs badly for it. Ridiculous.

Did any of the armament options for the Yak get put in? From the comments I have seen, they have not.

Verm,
Fear not, the Yak-9U in AH is amazing, as is.  I've been flying it almost 100% of the time, and I have to say I almost feel invincible from all but the most asinine moves I've pulled in it.  Though there are no armament options I find it adequate for a 1-3 kill sortie.  To be honest, if this planes was given any more performance 'punch' I'd almost feel guilty

She has one hellacious amount of control surface authority when in the vertical and at 60-75 IAS... is that accurate??
