The Hordes ...

Simple fix to that problem (if it's a problem for you): Don't be there.

I personally couldn't care less about who's winning the war as long as I have fun fighting it. I categorically refuse to either participate in, or defend against hordes. If you try to defend against them you only encourage them to continue by giving them an easy kill (who wouldn't like that?). If these players enjoy rampaging undefended fields that's their choice, but I won't be there.

And btw. when one country is down to just a few fields ... give it up. Dragging the inevitable on for hours on end just to feed the endless gangbangs is just dumb IMHO, but of course if that your particular brand of fun be my guest ... but I won't be there.

Just saying.

no problem with that except sometimes when we are down to a few fields it makes for some good fights.   if the dar is down it's not as important... if the fields are all capped I just log.

I can usually tell when a country is on the verge of collapse by the number of players in the CT.

Personally, I'll fight it out to the end - never surrender! - and see how many I can take with me.  I've found that going up against multiple bandits can be quite a challenge.

I guess you meant "shoot".

I see complaining about the ganging hordes and suggestions on how to alter the game to stop them. It's not really a game problem though the game does provide the oppertunity for it. If it is a problem for some it's a community problem, not a problem with the game itself.

Personally this is not a problem for me unless there are very few players online and they're all ganging, leaving me with no good fights, or when us Rooks are holding on to just a few fields that are all being ganged.

My point; if you don't like the gang hordes, don't feed them. When the gang is "over there", come "overe here" and we'll have a nice balanced fight instead.

Thanks for the correction in my typing error, heavy fingers typing to fast.

As a veteran of another fighter sim, WB, I know the pain all to well when you want to defend a base at all cost.  Or, that your country (color, chess piece) is down to a few bases; you fly against all the odds.

One rule of thumb is that you never take-off from a base that is under attack; all this will do is get you frustrated and pissed.  If you manage to get out of the tower onto the end of the runway, you will be more then likely vultched before take-off roll.  Even if you take to the air, your flight will only last for a short time due to the superior number of enemy above you.  note: if your into that kind of pain, then by all means Go For It.  Then when you get pissed and mad; go take it out on the computer, wife, or dog.  Just be conscious of the fact you caused your own pain.

Yes, GScholz you have a valid point in not feeding the horde.  It's an age old problem that many a flyer will face themself.  I personally do not put myself in this position.  I either fly in another location, from another base to the furball, or wait in the tower till there is ample time and space between your enemy to launch.

I learned a hard lesson on this by trial and error.  First, the computer cost big money.  Second, the wife will keep you in the dog house for a extremely loooooonnnnnngggg time.  Third, the dog is more then likely to turn on you for beating'm once to many time.:p

If by chance that you run across me in the skies. I go by the call sign: 'disorder', by all means shoot me down by pure luck or my own stupidity ( usually the later ).  If I see a fight that is 3 v 1 then I will engage.  If I see a fight that is 5 v 1 then I will bugout and fight another time.  If I see a horde I will engage, why because attached to the undercarriage is a WMD (Weapon of Mass Destruction); in which case I win, you lose; but we will have to change the arena due to fallout.

Maj. 'Bones' formally of WB (Warner Brothers) Spectre The Ghostriders Squadron, now just Maj. Disorder.
