The P-47 D30 was the first plane I really made an effort at in the game.  Couldn't fly it worth a crap and died constantly.  Since that time I have come back to the Jug and found it to be a great plane when used properly.

For anyone that flies it a lot, please tell me how you think it stacks up against P51D, 109G10, 190D9, LA7.

they all die very nicely or run away screaming.

if you find them over 25k, they won't even run.

all around, the G10 is the most dangerous one, but given some alt you can always dive away from him and start the fight again.

The P47 is a really nice plane, but it doesn't have the pickup most people like. The P51, G10, D9, and La7 all have GREAT acceleration, which is the only bad thing when fighting those planes in your P47. In the P47 vs. P51...a good P47 pilot will outmanuever the 51 pilot with a lot of flaps, but the 51 could boom and zoom you. This is when you dive away, use your speed to initiate the fight again. The G10 has great E retention so you have to be careful when fighting him...many 109 pilots will try to boom and zoom you, but the occasional will be good at manuevering, that's where you nail him. The D9 is a good plane, but turn's like crap so when in a fight with him make him make the mistakes and than make them count. The La7 is the hardest plane to beat, there really is no way to beat it because it can both outturn and outrun you. So you have to trick it into doing something stupid...play chicken with the ground and do some flips and act like your dead and than zoom away and initiate the fight. He will most likely follow you down. Go to this website http://www.telusplanet.net/~dsoder/models.htm and read up on the P47 - whatever model you fly.

Learn how to force an overshoot and ride the rolling scissors.  That is the only way you will beat those planes if the pilot has any idea what hes doing.  Try flying with tracers off too.  Good luck, and try to take it easy on Bish Jugs ;).

For similar pilots skill. P47 has little chances against any of them below 20k. If you keep faster than 300 mph, 109 will be an easy target for you. All the mentioned planes will outaccelerate you, and, with the exception of D9, all will turn with you below 300mph.
