Anyone try this yet??  While i don't particularly care for LFS's carset(i prefer hairy-chested F-1/Winston Cup cars, not these little Econo-Boxes), supposedly the game's physics are top-notch.  In fact, LFS is allegedly "CPU intensive" and not  "GPU intensive" because of the "advanced physics" model.

In any case, i admire the effort put into LFS and hope it succeeds.  It's kinda like Targetware for racing sims.   I would be willing to buy it and ignore the carset if the driving physics, Force Feedback, and Multiplayer are really "there".....

I've played it a fair bit. The network side is top-notch, but gameplay lacks that feeling of speed. Plus you can see where the road textures meet.

But this is an early pre-release and it promises great things.

I like it a lot.  Really good physics and force feedback.  The netcode is very good as well.

Yes the cars are fairly slow but
1.  They are similar to cars that many of us drive in real life, which gives us a good benchmark for physics accuracy.
2.  The drivers don't have to spend every bit of energy controlling the car, which allows them to focus on extremely close racing.

If they get a car and track editor it will really be fabulous.

Its ok.  For fun, multiplayer racing, its a hoot.  I disagree with the physics model being good.  It feels like an arcade game to me... well, ok not THAT bad... but if you want realistic physics, try F12002 and its mods.

F12002 and its mods...

Well, the only things close to LFS in f12002 is the Alfa mod and perhaps the mini mod, and I gotta say LFS is better than both, as is the netcode...

F12002 is poor. I bought it and downloaded the GT cars and was under-whlemed by the whole thing. I'm currently trying to flog the thing on ebay.

Ok, it's arcady, but does anyone still play "Sportscar GT"? It was the best five bucks I ever spent on a video game (unless you count the 1st 1/3 of my first AH account payment lol)

That's what I thought too, but then I read the FAQ:
Quote

Can I make my own cars/tracks for LFS?
No - there are no editors available. Also it's not possible to import known 3d formats

That's too bad.  For such a small team, I would think that opening it up to the mod community would make sense, but then it not my intelectual property, so who am I to say?
